What the hell is wrong with Netflix?

Ever since Netflix went down for almost a day a couple of months ago, the site's reliability has really taken a tumble. There have been several occasions where I've been unable to access my queue or even the main page. I would think that this would be unacceptable for a web-based company. Seriously, I'd love to know why they've been having so many problems. What's more, I can't help but be concerned that it's affecting my account, as far as what movies are sent is concerned. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yup, haven't had access all evening. I did receive an e-mail from them about 5 minutes ago stating that a title had been shipped. Hopefully that's a step in the right direction.

I've had problems for the last week. Wondered if it was just me. I guess not.

Yeah, I've had a couple shipped today as well. Looks like they'd at least put a message on the front page explaining what the hell's going on. And I'm surprised hackingnetflix.com hasn't covered it.

Yeah, I was the one who started the thread a few weeks back. When the site was down for over 24 hours. This shit is getting old. Is there anyone we can report this to? And I don't mean Netflix.

I agree about the message on the front page. Rather than just giving us a "site error" message, a bit of info would be nice. I was scheduled to have 5 ship today and I've only got notices for 2 so I wonder if there'll be a delay because of this.

They are throttling their customers again. And something needs to be done about it.

I don't know if I'd go that far. This is affecting everyone from regular, heavy users to people who are just trying to sign up tonight. Aside from these recent site outages, I've had no problems receiving movies from Netflix and I am an extremely heavy user. So I don't think this is a throttling issue.

On the Netflix Community Blog, there has been a lot of talk about updates to the Community features (Friends, Reviews, etc.). I think the outages are due to periodic updates with these features.
In my experience, web page updates do nothing to affect shipping. Netflix receiving & shipping is one thing, and the website is something else. The one does not affect the other. Except that you can't log in and see what's on the way, of course.

It seems to be ok now, and even during the website outage the service still seemed to be working fine, at least I had something check-in/ship out yesterday.

Proof? Or just conjecture?

I signed up about 2 months ago, I haven't had any issues this past week, but I guess it depends on what times you're using the site.

Watched a couple stand ups, Interstate 60, and Welcome to the Dollhouse on their streaming service as well.

Aside from the Great Netflix Outage of 2007, I haven't experienced any problem with the site.

Yup. I had 5 scheduled to ship yesterday and all 5 shipped and arrived today as if nothing had happened. So, the service remains fine.

I picked a really bad night to rejoin last night! I finally got through to sign up and then wasted 15 minutes trying to add my first movies to the queue. Today looks okay, though.

I've been a member for 3 years almost and not once have I had a problem with the site or it's service, with the exception of a couple of damaged discs that were replaced immediately.
