Now they've changed it from March 31, 2008 to April 1, 2008.

Ugh!

dkny75 04-01-08 09:24 AM

Still nothing.

riotinmyskull 04-01-08 07:19 PM

The Quote Machine is being taken down temporarily for a maintenance. We will be back up and purchasing discs by April 7, 2008.

Brent L 04-01-08 07:37 PM

btlives 04-03-08 08:21 PM

This is Crazy...Now it says April 15.

domino harvey 04-03-08 08:59 PM

of what year?

riotinmyskull 04-04-08 06:57 AM

i really rather send my stack of trade-ins to dvdplanet and then use the credit on the 20% off sale in june but it looks like wherehouse.com might end up getting them if they don't get this thing up and running by the 15th.

vdc530 04-14-08 04:22 AM

can someone post a direct link to the quote machine I can't seem to locate it on their site

thanks

Brent L 04-14-08 08:02 PM

So what are the odds that it'll actually be up tomorrow?

True_Story1011 04-14-08 08:22 PM

Dont hold you breath, but I'll be seeing what the prices are going to be as of tomorrow.

What other sites are out there for trade-in's?

True_Story1011 04-14-08 08:49 PM

while were talking about DVDPlanet, whats up with their pricing on HD DVD titles now?

Some of the pricing on the majority of thier titles went up! Very Puzzling.

Yeah their prices are terrible on them. I've had credit there forever and basically just hold onto it to pick up the occasional Blu disc. Maybe they're thinking HD DVDs are going to get scarce and then we'll be forced to pay their prices...?

Ive personally have had some great luck with Amazon Marketplace...Ive sold a number of discs for sometimes double if not more sometimes than what I would have gotten from DVDplanet.

I know many people though use secondspin (when the extra 20% coupon is in effect). warehouse.com I believe is another site that people use.

On the bright side, they haven't changed the date from April 15 to something even later. So we should know sometime in the next... 18.5 hours. But if the West Coast makes it to the 16th without an update...we'll have to give them a stern talking to, goshdarnit! :lies::chainsaw:

Dane Marvin 04-15-08 07:42 AM

Was expecting it to be running this morning. What a drag but totally expected by now.

Brent L 04-15-08 08:47 AM

They once said it would be ready on a specific date, and then way later into that afternoon they changed the date, so don't be shocked if they do the same today.

Paul Arnette 04-15-08 03:12 PM

While I cannot definitively say that Mark Harrill no longer works at DVD Planet, the last time I mentioned the name to a CSR they did not recognize it. Additionally, the reason I had been given previously for the delay in QuoteMachine order processing was that the person who had handled that was no longer with DVD Planet, and they were training a new person. Finally, the last several e-mails to Mark Harrill went unanswered. Add it all up, and it looks like a safe bet he's no longer there.

btlives 04-15-08 04:22 PM

My biggest concern is if they are not
selling used dvds, then why would
they buy them?

Brent L 04-15-08 05:39 PM

OMG.

It's actually up and running now.

They operate two B&M stores in California.

Artman 04-15-08 07:02 PM

Trade-in values are down a bit (esp for those free BD discs dangit), but other than that... looks good.

btlives 04-15-08 07:17 PM

Looks like our email address is now
are trade-in account.
Not our issued quote number?

Also when I head to checkout, some
dvds are dropped from the final
trade in quote. Oh well.....

Still nice to have it back finally.

This happened to me, too.

Brent L 04-15-08 07:38 PM

Well I've put together a batch, $165.39, and I've already got em boxed up and ready to mail off tomorrow. :)

I guess, but they sold used dvds on site
and now just buying is well unusual.

I'm getting a final quote that is $20 less than what it originally was when I went to check out. Would you say 'oh well' to that? I wouldn't. A big 'fuck you' to DVD Planet. I waited all this time for nothing. Guess I will just unload these on e-bay and DVD Talk. They are all pretty damn good titles.

Artman 04-16-08 12:15 AM

The Rock criterion isn't being accepted!.. and for some reason my upc's aren't matching with:

Ocean's Eleven
Batman Begins (two-disc)

:(

Happened for me also -- make sure you check and don't send the titles which they dropped. It was annoying because I had it perfectly fitted in the box, then 2 were not included.

There were about 12 to 15 titles I tried that is not in their Quote Machine or had different UPCs -- really wanted to offload some of them.

vdc530 04-16-08 12:43 AM

I am going to be putting up a few titles for DVDplanet but I have one question for the disks that are rejected do they send them back or just discard them?

Sometimes UPCs will vary slightly based on the security device (almost-flat rounded square with "circuitry" underneath or raised rectangle with really thin, really sharp metal pieces inside). I believe they take the title with a slightly different UPC as long as it matches specs (e.g., one-disc vs. two-disc, FS vs. WS...).

At least the way it used to work, they sent them back (but maybe took the postage costs out of your total credit?).

Now that Mark H. seems to have vanished, they may have changed procedures on both of these issues.

jewellrunner 04-16-08 08:14 AM

Yeah, I lost more than half of my titles when I went to check out. If DVDplanet is not accepting those titles, they shouldn't even give quotes for them. Such a disappointment.

Brent L 04-16-08 09:11 AM

I only lost one of the ones they gave me a quote on. I did a search for the old Guns of the Navarone Special Edition, it came up for around $5-$6 or so, but when I got to the last screen it wasn't there anymore.

Are many of the titles you guys are seeing disappear old discs that now have newer versions out?

I shipped my order this morning, media mail, insured. I'll update you guys once I see the credit on my account.

John Galt 04-16-08 12:25 PM

I added 14 titles to the cart and when I went to checkout only 2 showed. I hope they get this fixed quickly.

riotinmyskull 04-17-08 07:24 AM

well i had around $124 worth of trade-ins but $27 of it didn't make it to the check out portion. oh well. hopefully they'll get this fixed eventually and i can get a second batch sent off and credited before the june sale.

Artman 04-17-08 10:22 PM

Maybe I'll wait a wk or so... who knows maybe we'll get some Paramount BD announcements and I can include any I have in this order.

True_Story1011 04-18-08 01:15 AM

I'm dropping like 13 BD over here, I'm not getting any bites from members on the boards right now. I think I recieved $158 in trade.

John Galt 04-18-08 10:14 AM

Looks like they fixed that little glitch. All my titles have been placed in the shopping cart and are ready to ship out.
