I've been a DVDPlanet customer for a long time (primarily because of the lowest available Criterion prices anywhere), but this is my first time using Quote Machine or sending used discs to them. I sent a shipment last Wednesday (11-7) using media mail. Exactly one week later I don't have any credit, which is not unexpected. However, I am really hoping to get the credit within the next 7 days (by the 21st) so that I can use it while the 20% sale is still in effect.

Is there any way to check the status, short of calling them? And when the credit is applied, will I get an email? Will it automatically appear under "Store Credit" on the My Account page when I log into my normal DVDPlanet account?

(Mark, if you are looking, my quote/shipment # is 13270.)

If you do call, they're very helpful and will make sure you get a status update. I've called a few times and had my credit the same day every time, they're really good about following up.

Depending where you live, they might not have even received the discs yet. Expecting to get a credit within a week of mailing is pretty unreasonable. It now takes them about a week after they get the discs to issue the credit, which is pretty good.

I agree, expecting a credit within a week is unreasonable, and as I stated, I wasn't expecting it to be there yet. I was just wondering about the status, and hoping that I will have a credit within 2 weeks of mailing them in, which isn't so unreasonable I think.

Your best bet is to give them a call. They've always been very helpful whenever I call and ask about a quotemachine shipment. Just keep in mind though that since they're in the middle of their big sale, they might be just a bit busy and the turnaround time maybe a little longer than usual.

According to my tracking information, they received my discs on the 6th. Still no credit here. I called them late last week and they did tell me that they are backed up on processing used discs. :(

i'd call them back and find out whether or not you'll receive your credit in time to use it during the 20% off sale. if not, then i'd ask that they could somehow take 20% off your order once the credit shows up on your account.

I haven't read all the DVD Planet 20% off posts, but can you use store credit and coupon codes together?

Yup. I've done it several times without issue. They actually force you to use you credit if you have it.

Hence why I purchase so little from them since. I prefer to use any credit at the time of my choosing.

my account was credited today for discs I sent that were received by them 11/8

leeta 11-23-07 07:40 PM

I hope they continue to update credit through the weekend. I want that Stargate Complete Series Collection! :fc:

They received my shipment on 11/19 and I still haven't received credit so don't hold your breath.

bigE 12-08-07 12:11 PM

I sent my shipment Priority Mail on 11/10 & finally got credited 2 days ago. Now none of their used dvds are posted on the site. What's up with this outfit? It's one & done for me.

maybe im in the wrong here, but imho about 4 weeks to account for shipping, receipt, verification, and credit is pretty good.

go back a couple pages and look at how fast my last turnaround was...5 business days from my door to store credit showing up in my account.

As I stated a few posts up, my package arrived at DVD Planet three weeks ago.

Also FWIW, I've had good experiences with DVD Planet in the past, so that isn't necessarily an indicator of how quickly accounts are credited.

leeta 12-11-07 09:56 PM

Received credit today! Plus they also updated the FBC points.

That's great, I sent mine about 3 weeks ago as well and also from Florida so hopefully my credit will be posted soon...*crosses fingers* I really wanted to get some gifts with that credit. lol.

dvdrules 12-21-07 12:02 PM

Ugh, I guess there is a delay with the processing of DVD's for credit. I figured I'd have my credit by now but I guess not, which sucks considering I was going to use it for some gifts. Ah well.

I have had many good experiences using DVD Planet's QuoteMachine, but sending your movies for trade-in between Thanksgiving and Christmas is a bad idea if you need quick turn-around. Their warehouse is focus on fulfilling holiday orders.

Yeah, I had a good experience early in the year, fast turnaround time. I had thought that even though it would take a while for the credit to be applied it would be applied the week before Christmas since that would give them a month and last time it took about a week and a half. Guess I was wrong...lol.

Artman 12-21-07 05:56 PM

Just got mine... took a little over four wks I think...a little slower than earlier this yr, but still satisfied since I wasn't planning to use it till mid January.
