I have the same experience with Mister Peepers -- with Blockbuster, I could double the rentals per month. I get 3 through the mail -- when I returned it to the store, I get an exchange title right then. Meanwhile, the scanned return is already triggering my next title through the mail. I did the free one-month trial last month and I think I managed about 26 - 28 rentals (combining through the mail and instore exchanges) during the month, even with mailing time to Hawaii.

No, the instore rentals are completely independent of the online ones. You will normally be shipped a new online movie the day after returning an old online movie in the store while using that return to get an instore one. So you end up with double the number of movies.

I've often had 6 out at a time. 3 online, 3 instore. And you can even call that 9 out at a time because 3 more online ones got shipped before the original 3 onlines returned to the store even got back to the warehouse, while I still had the 3 instore movies out.

Really? That's interesting indeed. The way it was explained to me (of course by the store cronies) was that your new movie did not ship until you returned the in-store rental.

In that case, I retract. They still don't have any BD though

Netflix's selection, according to my varied tastes, is vastly superior. I've also had much better luck getting the discs I want from Netflix (which very infrequently skips something at the top of my queue, even when it's Very Long Wait) as opposed to Blockbuster (which would often ship randomly out of the top 10 in my queue). Turnaround time is going to vary by your location, of course.

Is it true NF now offers online downloadable movies fro rent? If so, I might give them a shot

They offer a certain time allotment per month (based on your subscription level [the 3 out plan just when to 17 hrs w/ the new price drop]) of streaming movies. So they aren't downloadable in the sense that you get to keep them (although someone out there has probably figured a way to do that, but that would be illegal and NOT something to discuss here). The selection is limited when compared to their regular catalog but I've usually been able to find enough to use all the time. It's a great way to check out a bunch of old TV shows and in some cases things that aren't available on DVD yet (Jeremiah season 2, and selected epsiods of the New Outer Limits seasons 2-7).

Any truth to Blockbuster limiting the number of in store rentals when returning an online disc? That may change things for some people.

It seems they are breaking things down/giving you more "options" as to what type of program/level you can choose. There will be some that don't have any sort of "in-store rental" that'll be cheaper, another that has a limited number and then a 3rd that has unlimited rentals that'll be more expensive. In the past BBO has been good about leaving people at their current program/level (for example I'm still getting 2 game/movie coupons a month from their original setup) so these changes should only be for new customers or if you change your subscription.

Yeah, they do leave the deals generally....so i covers NEW subscribers. I recently changed from 3 to 1 at a time (I was getting TWO coupons also, but I gave up).

Anyone know what stores in MICHIGAN rent Blu-Ray? My main store does not.

How much do people pay for Netflix's 3 at a time (unlimited) plan? After my free trial a few months ago I went to $15.99, but I thought I had seen where the regular price was $17.99. It's not a promotional or limited rate for me, $15.99 shows up as the regular rate.

NetFlix's 3-at-a-time used to be $17.99 and dropped to $16.99 very recently.

After years of deliberating, I finally decided to join Netflix this past Friday. Frankly, I am quite impressed by the turnaround sending the movies. My list was finalized on Saturday, the shipment was prepped on Monday and I received them in the mail today...Wow!! Although I like the convenience of visiting my local Mom and Pop video store less then 5 minutes away and only $1.50 per movie...the brand spanking new titles are always checked out and I don't like returning movies the very next day....which is not enough time.

Also, I am quite impressed with Netflix's selection. They have so many older titles, foreign films and documentaries that my local video shop would never carry. Plus, I don't have to deal with all the Widescreen versions being checked out and being left with 6 or 7 Fool screen copies.

Have of any of you given up renting at Blockbuster, Hollywood or your local Mom and Pop after joining Netflix?

I still frequent Hollywood Video once or twice a week. I basically use my MVP Premiere pass to get the more mainstream stuff while using my Netflix to get the more obscure titles that Hollywood wouldn't carry.

Just curious....what are the Availability Status for Blu-Ray movies? I just switched to Blockbuster ONLINE only (no trade in) and all the Blu-Ray/HD stuff seems to be Long Wait.

I'm just curious if I should switch to Netflix after this month.

Also, for those in MICHIGAN, what is the ship time generally? With Blockbuster, I get regular DVD's the day after they ship, but BD/HD seem to take 2-3 days.

Can't speak to MI, but here in the DC area, Netflix is amazing with BD/HD stock. I had BBO for one month, and none of the BD or HD titles I wanted ever came into stock. If I wanted HD or BD releases, they had to be older titles. It was extremely frustrating. Back with NF now, very happy.

love netflix im geting 8 at a time and i get movie every other day

There's a shipping facility in Lansing, so turnaround to Detroit is VERY quick. On the one at a time plan, I can get two discs watched and exchanged through the mail per week, usually a Tuesday/Wednesday and then Saturday.

So you generally get movies the NEXT day after shipped? I may switch after this month....I think my Blockbuster account expires on Nov.5th (billing cycle that is).

I just will have to print out my queue....it's pretty darn long right now from Blockbuster, I wish I could import it

I would recommend it. I use both and if nothing else finding/working w/ HD/BR is easier w/ Netflix than BB. W/ Netflix you can specify that if it is available to always select the HD/BR version automatically when adding things to your queue, and once in the queue you can switch between formats on the fly. W/ BB you have to dig down a couple of levels to find whether an HD/BR format is available and once added to your queue if you want to switch you have to delete/readd.

What is the WAIT like on the HD/BD titles? Blockbuster has them generally on a long wait or more. Does Netflix have a "bigger" supply of next gen titles?

To be honest I've only rented a couple of them so far so I really can't answer that question. Right now I have 2 in my queue one is available now, the other (released last week IIRC but I just added it) is "long wait".
