Question about Borders store credit

I returned some items after the holidays to a Borders bookstore and got about $100 in store credit. Since Borders.com is partnered with Amazon.com, can you use store credit at Borders.com? Or will I have to use my store credit to buy Borders Gift Cards in order to redeem them at www.borders.com?

You have to go to www.borders.com first and you can then buy anything that Borders sells(books, DVDs, CDs) through Amazon(you can even use your existing Amazon account info). The second to final checkout page, there's a box at the bottom of the page for your Borders gift card. Just input your GC number in the box and conclude the checkout process.

So you can't actually shop at Amazon? And you can't buy stuff there that Borders doesn't sell?

Are the prices the same at both?

As long as you have one item in your cart that's from Borders.com, you can buy stuff from the Amazon.com website and it will let you use your Borders Gift Card for the entire order.

Here's what I usually do. Go to www.borders.com. Select an item (book, DVD, CD) that you want and put it in your cart. Then go to www.amazon.com. The item from borders.com should still be in your cart. Pick what you want from Amazon.com and put it in your cart. Go to checkout. Use your Borders GC as payment.

Can you return items bought thru Amazon at a Borders b&m store? If so, do you need the Amazon receipt?

No, though I think you can return things to Borders without any receipt if they do carry it.

Borders is awesome regarding receiptless returns. If they have the item in that particular store's inventory, they'll give you a gift card for whatever it scans for at the register. Go to www.bordersstores.com to check your local store's inventory.

I agree.

When I used to work at the Fairfield, CT. store, I once had a customer bring in bags of books that she wanted to return. From my perspective they were used but the manager said to take back all that were listed in the computer.

From what I recall, that was about 60% of them.
