I just used the Help section again to propose that my original shipping charges (expedited for $7.47) be refunded in the form of Amazon credit. In other words, a compromise: I don't pursue a chargeback, I pay for the DVDs, and I get the shipping credited back. I'm going to guess that they balk at this. If so, I'm still debating calling Discover.

Amazon isn't responsible for the shipping carrier.

For the record, I placed one order and paid $7.47 for expedited shipping, hoping to have them faster for Christmas gifts. (They arrived late.) At the very least, I'd accept a promotional GC in the amount of the shipping I paid versus going with free shipping.

I had two charged for $35.99 and they took $24.50 from a gift certificate balance. I had one of the $35.99 charges removed today, but -- so far -- the others remain.

Haven't been charged yet, but I went over my credit card limit the other day, so that could be stopping any charge. I think 2moro will be the big test, since I paid off my card today.

started emailing them yesterday about being overcharged (above and beyond the B1G1F price). Already got one form response that didn't help... This will be fun.

According to the email response I received today, I'm getting the $7.47 back on my card. I can live with that. And I'll order from Amazon in the future, for the record.

As I posted last week, I got a couple of FU e-mails in response to my request for a refund, but also got one response saying that they would refund me the charges, plus another response giving me a $15 promotional certificate for my troubles.
Anyway, the refunds were never posted, and the charges were never reversed. So today I sent another e-mail to Amazon, and cut and pasted the response from them last week saying that they would refund the charges. Got an e-mail back this morning saying that they would post the refunds, and finally, the refunds are showing in these orders on their website.
So bottom line, be persistent. Keep trying with Amazon CS until you can hopefully get the charges reversed.

I canceled my co-branded Visa/Amazon a couple of weeks ago because of all the BS, so I don't know if they tried to charge me. Today a Chase Visa CSR called to ask me if I was sure I wanted to cancel...why did I choose to close....sorry to lose me....etc. I explained the shoddy Amazon business practice and she (Ursula in Arizona!) acknowledged her familiarity with the problem. She was very understanding and wanted to let me know they would be raising the credit limit on our other Chase Visa by the $8k ceiling on the Amazon card. Not really necessary b/c we pay in full every month anyway.

I wrote on the 18th and on the 21st got credited by Amex for those charges.
I first tried writing to Amazon, complaining and such, they pretty much gave me an FU answer
so I thought "FU too" and wrote to Amex. After that I deleted the CC info from my account, so let's see if that's it...
As for me, I don't like the thought that a company can come back any time later and charge you again for orders you have placed and received,
that's why I chose to dispute the charges.

I got a refund of $2.50, which was the price difference in my order between the higher-priced set and the lower-priced set.

Here's what Amazon told me today.
Hello from Amazon.com.
First, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support and
continual purchasing throughout the years. Your purchase history is
outstanding and I would personally like to keep your patronage. You
are certainly the type of customer that we would like to retain.
In reviewing your order placed on 23-Dec-06, we discovered that due
to an error we did not charge you the correct amount for the items
you purchased. According to the terms of the promotion, purchasing
one DVD at the regular price entitled you to a free DVD of equal or
lesser value. You can view the terms of the promotion here:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...ATVPDKIKX0DER?
Hence, we have charged the orders for one of the item. However, if
you want the charge to be waived off, please return the DVD's on our
own cost. Even though the merchandise are opened, you can return
these DVD's and we will refund for the order.
Please write back to us by visiting the following URL about the
above charge and refund to take the appropriate action:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/rsvp/rsvp-mi.html
But I can assure you that this is not typical of our service levels
and hopefully in the future you will never have to regret shopping
with Amazon.com.
Again, I am very sorry for any inconvenience that this situation has
caused and would like to thank you for your understanding and
patience and hope this solution is satisfactory.
We appreciate your business and hope that we will see you again soon
at Amazon.com.
Please be assured that I am here to help you and I will do my level
best to take care of the same.
Thanks for shopping at Amazon.com.
