Does DDD have real-time inventory? Is it shared with DVD Planet?
Just curious if anyone happens to know if Deep Discount DVD has real-time (or maybe semi real-time) inventory tracking.
I noticed that when I add titles to my shopping cart, if the title is in-stock, I can make it show as out-of-stock if a raise my ordering quantity up. For some titles I have to raise it alot before it happens (by hundreds), others list as out-of-stock if I try to order just a few.
It would be really great if their system was really this accurate.
(Also, I also noticed that DDD has a few titles I want in-stock, but that are listed as out-of stock over at DVD Planet where I usually shop. This seemed odd since I was almost sure they both used the same warehouse.)

I called CS at DVDPlanet and Deepdiscount with questions regarding orders about 2 months ago when there was a blizzard that shut down their businesses and heard the identical recorded message at each number stating that due to the conditions the CS line was closed. Later I asked the rep about the shared voice message and I was told by a CSR that they do not share inventory, personnel or facilities (just that voice recording I guess).

ddd has a relatively accurate inventory system. It has delayed stock reading that is updated only once a day. The way you do it is the only way to read inventory. Sometimes the readings you get from it turn out to be innacurate so it is not something that you can always count on.
I find it very hard to believe they dont share inventory as they are owned by the same company. Have the same sales and same packaging. Very unlikely what you heard was right.
