Deep Discount to customers - you might notice some strange charges

Just got a call from Deep Discount DVD, telling me that through some billing snafu some orders were processed as coming through one of their "partners," a business called The Bunny Store. They said that I would see some of my recent orders billed to that name, and that the money would be credited back to me and re-billed under Deep Discount.

It's good that they're calling people and alerting them to the problem instead of just waiting for customers to call them.

Oh my!!! Lets see, first we get those check things mailed to us (I got 2 recently). Now some other company is somehow using DDD information on us to bill us phony charges?

Oh my! Some people are actually using this to further an irrational hatred of DDD. Get a grip, Francis, and stop blowing this out of proportion.

I have no hatered of DDD, just some of their practices mainly the phony checks but now you state DDD actually phoned you as to some other company billing you? I have had some problems with DDD in the past but they have never phoned me. And WTF is the BUNNY STORE anyways?

actually I was paying my bill me later payment online this afternoon and noticed one of these Bunnystore charges. It was for the EXACT amount that had just shipped from DDD. There was a number underneath the title of Bunnystore and it was the exact same phone number that was used on all my previous DDD orders.

So I think it is indeed a minor snafu and one that they seem to be aware of

So let's see ... if I'm reading this correctly, the problem is that the amount a customer charged at DDD is showing up as being charged to a different business name, the problem has been spotted, the original billing will be corrected, and nobody was ever billed for an amount they did not actually charge.

DDD spotted the problem, contacted customers involved, and is correcting the problem.

Mistakes happen, even to the best companies on the planet, but the real test is how the company goes about rectifying the problem - and it apears that DDD is handling this quickly and efficiently.

In case you've not seen this thread near post 57 http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=479688&page=2 it appears that the bunny has popped up on DVDPlanet's billing system as well.

I got one too, but no call (of course, if I can't tell who is calling I don't answer, so they might have called). Luckily I read this thread so I at least don't have to try to track down what's going on.

Now's your chance! Order some porn, then when it shows up on your bill, you can say "Looks like that darn DDD did it again."

after continually refusing to make any statement regarding their phony checks, i have no respect for this company anymore. they always seem to be looking for another way to scam customers.

They are not scamming anyone now and I am a DDD customer. However, when are they going to get their shit together? Just last year, they had a security breach where you could see other customer's account information(it took them almost 3 days to fix the problem and they initially denied that there was a problem). Then they send out the third party checks and now this. You don't hear about these problems with Amazon, DVD Empire, bestbuy.com, etc.

I wish that they would get their act together because I really do like shopping there.

To all of our customers: We would like to inform you of a discrepancy that you may see on your bank card statement due to a computer processing error that occurred the day of your transaction. This discrepancy only relates to the name of the company appearing on the statement and will not result in any incorrect charges to your account. Due to this error, you may see the transaction attributed to “TheBunnyShop.com” on your statement rather than to our company.

Again, please be assured all funds have always been charged to the correct account and that your credit card information is secure and was never compromised at any time.

We have reversed the incorrectly attributed entry and have processed a corrected transaction which will properly state our company’s name in the description area of your statement. We sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused by this error.

We have since rectified the situation within our system and with our bank card processor. We remain dedicated to providing you first class service in a safe and secure environment. Again, we truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Best regards,

Customer Service

I was just a pissed as anyone else when those checks came through, but this seems to be a different issue altogether. They ran into a glitch in their system. They worked to notify customers and have fixed the issue. I really don't see how I could expect anything more from DDD, let alone any other company. From what I understand, shipments went out correctly and people weren't charged multiple times. They may have been charged under a different company name (who knows, maybe it's a new adult branch or something), but they've since corrected the issue.

Am I missing something here?

I also had two charges to the Bunny Shop that were corrected. At first I thought I had been drunk and ordered something online. Bad news was the wife was with me when I viewed my credit card online. She was preoccupied with those charges so I didn't have to come up with an excuse for the real DDD bill.

How long does it take for the Bunny charges to come off? Currently Im being charged for the dvd's twice as the bunny shop and under ddd. I would have preferred if they had just left the original charge and not put through a second set of charges.

I honestly didn't care about this before - problems do happen - but now I'm getting Bunny Shop catalogs sent to my house. If DDD would like to send somebody over here to help get me out of hot water, that would be fantastic.
