However, I also have to agree totally with Harry that a moderator should then be just as sure to move posts about positive experiences, if this is to be a coupon-and-deals-only zone. Alternate theory- maybe some of us ARE coming on to read about complaints, postive comments, coupons, the works. We all I'm sure have tons of different reasons for coming on a site or a specific room here. I WOULD want to read about others' complaints about a room where there are coupons/deals- because all of the coupons and deals in the world ain't gonna matter to me if purchases end up getting messed up. Anyways, if room protocols are to be set- fine by me. Just let us know. We can then still agree to disagree- but I can respect rules and boundaries- if they're clear and consistent, especially. Again, maybe it's because I'm new here- but I also am still perplexed about why there is such a level of animosity towards litza with some- while perhaps not also getting bothered by the mistakes made with his orders. For one thing- I'd suspect he'd stop posting such long messages, if someone from the site would actually just fix the problems affecting his orders promptly. I agree, he writes long messages (as I obviously can)- so do what I do sometimes with folks- don't read the messages in their entirety, especially if they're not relevant for me. Or skip ahead- it's not like there are an endless # of pages here. Most can figure out to go to the first page, to look at the coupons, and then the last page or so, for more recent updates. My deal would be- if someone was getting me to the point where I'm allowing them to get me so upset that I post comments having to curse- it'd do me best to ignore. I certainly specifically need to ask folks out of respect not to curse when quoting from one of my messages, even if (hopefully?) the curse is not meant directly for me. I'd also recommend that cursing about anyone's comments is unnecessary- but leave me out of it entirely, in any case. Thanks. |
Just to do a follow-up (and this should be my last on the subject)- with my problems, even if it took a bit of time on my part- and a few more e-mail reminders to them (ex., saying they'd sent me a postage paid e-mail when they hadn't) than might have been necessary- bottom line is, they've ended up being more than fair with me. I must say that I still agree with the basic criticism that some of us seem to have- that more time should be spent by DVD Planet folks on making sure their site works properly without computer/internet (or whatever) glitches, and making sure that they have consistently good customer relations folks- and not worry so much about coupons and discounts until all of this gets cleaned up.
Still, for my troubles, I've gotten some discounts, and they put my refund into my credit card account even before I had mailed back the two duplicate Criterion DVD's. This is beyond what I would honestly have expected- just the postage paid e-mail and a refund once they had received the DVD's would have been enough for me. So, I wanted to go on record and give credit where credit is due. |
Nice! Not only does Mark not post in this thread any more, or answer emails, but DVDPlanet seemed fit to put one of my email addresses on their "spam" list.

Hi Tom Litza,
Thanks for posting your experiences in the thread. I did want you to know that the PayPal functionality that has caused you so many problems has been completely re-written and appears to work flawlessly. I really appreciate your feedback on the process and hope it will no longer cause you any problems. Mark |

Hi Mark, sorry to bother you with a problem I have now. On 8/18, I received a shipping notice for Criterion's "Kicking and Screaming" (Order #586320). But it was sent to my old address. I moved in the end of July and I had notified USPS and DVD Planet of the new address. I tought the package will be forwarded to my new address but I never recieved it.
I email Customer Service on 9/15 telling them the missing shipment. I got a respond back on 9/19 telling me they will reship after they received the package back. Then, another email on 9/28 telling me a refund had been issued to me for the DVD. I reply the 9/28 email asking them to reship the DVD to me but never hear from them since. I pre-ordered the DVD with 2 other August Criterions, "The Six Moral Tales" and "Seduced and Abandoned", with a $7 coupon. "Kicking and Screaming" was shipped first and the amount of the coupon was applied to that shipment. The rest of the order was charged full amount and shipped to my old adress, but strangely, it was forwarded to me this time. Mark, could you please check if you can reship the "Kicking and Screaming" DVD to me? |
Sorry upfront - this message contains no discount codes!
Here's a strange but true story of my experience with the DVDPlanet CS: Once upon a time I got an e-mail displaying a pricy DVD collection consisting only of Criterion Collection movies. Along with the e-mail came a coupon code to get $ 25 off the item. After some time I placed an order for the item. A few days later I received a cancellation e-mail claiming that either I myself had cancelled the initial order or the item had been discontinued. Neither was the case. So I decided to ask the DVDPlanet CS why my order was cancelled. I received some cryptic message I could not make much sense of. So I wrote again using questions which could simply be answered by YES or NO. Finally I got a message I could make sense of (thanks to my YES or NO questionnaire). The item had to shipped abroad to, lets say ... Germany. I got some fascinating answers. Original Quote: "You no longer ship any more items to me specifically?Yes because items are not being received at your address." "You reject me as costumer in general no matter which order I place? We are sorry, there are too many orders not being received at your address. These items are also not being returned to us. We are sorry we no longer can accept orders from you." The fact is that I did place an order for 2 items more or less a year ago. The order was in fact also cancelled for no reason. In fact no items were ever shipped to me!! I sent the CS another mail stating the facts including the order number of my first order with the company. Of course I got no response to this last mail from the CS. So either the CS employee is completely incompetent or DVDPacific did some funny business with my account while I was not using it. Same experience anybody?? |

Here's a strange but true story of my experience with the DVDPlanet CS: Can we please keep this thread on topic? This thread is for discussing bargains, sales, discounts, etc. It is not for discussing customer service experiences -- those discussions belong in the Store Forum. It is becoming ever more frustrating to have to wade through three dozen posts about somebody's customer service experience when looking for the latest batch of coupon codes. |

Gentle,
It appears that CS canceled your order due to numerous non-received packages you ordered from our sister company Deep Discount DVD. As a result, DDD and DVD Planet will be unable to process any orders from you. Thanks, Mark DVD Planet.com |
Hi,
Thanks for your answer. The only thing is that I personally don't have a DDD account. Don't mind me saying that but I am astonished that you were able to come up so fast with an explanation based on the fact that I neither provided: Name /Address or Order number. |

I've placed a few orders with DE/DVDP and haven't had any major issues. One recent order I placed got cancelled, but I got that fixed. I made an order with PayPal and it went through fine. I placed another order a day later, again via PayPal, but I got an e-mail about my order being cancelled. I called and the person told me I clicked to use a CC instead of PayPal, but that's wrong because I did the same thing I did with the previous order that went through fine. I had the receipt from PayPal and everything. The person took the PayPal transaction ID# and said they'd get the order out to me. I received my previous order Monday, but the ANoES was a floater, so I called. They sent me another ANoES via First Class/Priority with a paid mailer for the floater. Since I was on the line, I inquired about the cancelled order. A different guy (pretty sure) said there was no new order. This guy actually gave me an order number. I got the confirmation e-mail and noticed that my stuff was sent out via FC/P. I originally ordered via economy shipping, so that was cool. I placed another order yesterday and it appears everything is fine. I'm also planning another order for something that comes out in a week. All in all I have no real issues with DE/DVDP. One thing that I noticed is that my e-mail inquiries seem to go unanswered, so I just call.

I've been having difficulty with items either being on backorder or being canceled by Digital Eyes. OFFICE: Season 2 was on order the Wed. after its release date. I called to inquire and the CSR (the same one for most of this tale) told me that it would be on
backorder until October. I told him that I was not waiting that long and that I wanted it canceled. I was then accused of placing an order with a coupon and then calling to cancel an item. I told him that I was calling after the item should have been shipped so I was not trying to cheat DE in any way, and even after his accusations, I said that I would be willing to cancel the entire order and place it again with another item to meet the requirements of the coupon. He agreed to let the remaining parts of the order stand with the existing coupon. Later, DP canceled my order (but not the entire order) for HOW I MEET YOUR MOTHER- Season 1. I called to ask why, and I was told that it was not going to be released. I asked questions about my existing order, and it was again implied that I was using a coupon fraudulently even though DP had been the one to cancel the item. Suddenly, I'm having credit card problems I never had where DP says that my credit card company wouldn’t authorize payment. Fine, I told the CSR. I'll cancel the entire order, and place it under another card since he couldn't manually change it so I could use another one. He accused me of trying to use a coupon without meeting the requirement. Since I was redoing the entire order, I asked, "How is that possible?" He then gave me some long schpiel about how people do this all the time. I did cancel that order after he begrudgingly agreed, and I placed it again. This time, the one released item would not ship. I emailed why this was not being shipped and I never received a response which is not unusual. I usually don’t receive an email about account problems. I called and got the same CSR. He told me that it had not shipped because my credit card company would not authorize payment since I used a coupon. He told me that I had to cancel the order and that the coupon would have to be inputed manually once I called after placing an order, I did place another order (but with a different item) and I called, and a different CSR had no idea what I was talking about, but said she would look into it, and make sure a five dollar credit was applied to my account if it was warranted. |
Is your name JOHANNES NEUBAUER? If so I see an account at DDD that matches your name and address. There are several orders that were not received at your address for Reinhold Neubauer. In 2005 2 orders were placed and cancelled per request. In 2004 1 order was placed which was received. In 2003 2 orders were placed 1 order was received in total. The second order also arrived but 2 ordered items were missing from the package (not included in the package). So I assume if items are forgotten to be put in the package from DDD the costumer itself is responsible?? Further any person connected to this family hence the address is excluded from business with DVDPlanet and DDD. |

As for being accused of coupon misuse, I have talked to the rep and emphasized that this is not the way to handle the matter. He also let me know that he has been in contact with you via e-mail and the issue should be covered and handled now in your favor. Please let me know if there is anything else we can do for you. I am sorry for the problem and we are doing everything we can to iron out these issues. |
Not sure if this is the appropriate thread for this question, but will Mission Impossible 2 be added to the Paramount BOGO sale? It's available at DDD, but not DVD Planet.
Thanks! |

Thanks for the quick reply to my question. I'll check again on Monday and hopefully place another order.

Hey Mark,
For some reason I am no longer getting period emails from DVDPlanet. Before the merger I was getting the weekly emails with reward points updates and the monthly emails with coupons. Since the merge, the only emails I get are order confirmation emails and shipping notices. I would very much like to still be receiving these other periodic emails. I cannot find any place on the DVDPlanet site to sign up for them. It mentions this here: https://www.dvdplanet.com/help/help_...vacy_statement but the clickable "My Settings" link does not work. Is there anything I can do to get these emails back? |
