I'm thinking that the items are not shipping when DDD are saying they are. This allows them to charge me for the items and ship/pay their supplier later.

There is no way that shipping, even on the slow china boat, takes 3 weeks from the west coast to Arkansas!

Something is surely going on. Anybdoy else notice something fishy lately?

i'd consider yourself lucky. 2 weeks is the absolute minimum it takes me to receive an order from them. 3-6 days NEVER EVER EVER have i gotten something from them that quickly, and i've placed AT LEAST 100 orders with them (though over the past 6 months i've probably only ordered from them about 4 times due to such slow service)

I had two orders ship last Wednesday. One, which I paid for faster shipping, arrived on Monday, and the other came today. Another order I placed through DVD Planet shipped on the same day and also arrived today.

I have had orders from DDD take a full three weeks, but the same holds true of Overstock, DVD Pacific, and even Amazon. They're invariably single items in little packages, which suggests to me that media mail speed is dependant on the size of the package.

I don't think speculating about their financial situation is a propoer thing to do. All you will accomplish is scaring off potential customers. The best thing I can say is vote with your dollars. I think we should support ddd all the time, even when they don't have the 20% off sales. I would much rather wait a week or two for a delivery than give my $$ to companies like bestbuy, etc.

Why? Don't get me wrong, I generally like DDD and shop there when they have the lowest price (and I don't want instant gratification). But I don't feel any particular loyalty to them, they are a company like any other. And not to mention their latest stunt (sending those "scam" checks that enroll you in a monthly membership) was pretty pathetic.

I typically receive items from DDD within 5-7 business days. I've noticed that I have actually gotten things faster the last couple of months. Now, I wouldn't mind complaining about the way DDD packs DVDs. Just got Angel Seasons 1 and 2, and S2 came damaged.

While on the topic of speed of delivery, Amazon is the best thing in existence. With FREE shipping, I usually get items from them within 3 days.

Yeah those scam checks ticked me off BIGTIME! While I'm sure most DVD Talkers are smart enough to read the fine print others don't. Just the idea of some business trying to trick me into a expensive scam by offering me a check that sneakily enrolls me in a program I dont want to join when cashed gets me steamed. I get lots of rebate checks in the mail and my wife routinely cashes them. I actually looked over the DDD check because I didn't remember any returns or rebates, If I hadn't who knows. It turned me off doing business with them. I have used competitors a few times when the prices were about the same. I haven't stopped ordering dvd's from them I just opt to use other companies when the prices are about equal because I hate sneaks.

I placed an order on 4/18, and it supposedly shipped on 4/20. I still haven't received it. My last order was like this as well. It used to take from a week to a week and a half to get my orders from DDD. Now it's taking three weeks or longer. I ordered something from DVD Empire on Tuesday and it arrived on Friday via Media Mail. Now granted DVD Empire is a lot closer to me than DDD, but still. I don't know if the fault lies at DDD or the USPS, but I probably won't be ordering from them for a while.

I called on Friday and they credited my account because the item is now unavailable to send a replacement.

I've ordered with them before and never had problems, so your concern may be legit OP. I'm happy to know I'm not the only one experiencing issues, but I highly doubt is "financial".

I place on order on April 15th, DDD says shipped on the 18th, but I still haven't received anything. I bid on a game on ebay two weeks after ordering the movie with DDD - I received the game in the mail last week.

And media mail isn't *that* slow. If you've got a big box, then yes, I can see it taking a while, but whenever I ship stuff media mail, it takes less than 5 days to get anywhere in the CONUS, and usually 3 days [one time it took 10 days, but it was right after Christmas and i think it just got 'lost' at my PO.]

While it does sometimes seem like it takes forever, sometimes you get what you pay for. I'm willing to wait a little longer for what I [usually] save on disks. The only time I was disappointed was when I ordered something about a week before release date. Last time I did that, I received it the day after release date--this time, it was 5 or 6 days after release date.

Since it's taking so long maybe they don't have the stuff in stock but get them in after the order's placed? Anyone pay for quick shipping and not get it right away?

Billyspunk 05-08-06 01:01 PM

The bottom line for that craphole called DDD is they are trying to compete with the big boys and they are LOSING! Their prices are so so except for their sales and their shipping is the WORST! Thanks DDD but I think I will give Walmart my money every week and have it FASTER and CHEAPER.....DDD SUCKS
