Ebay seller problem

I have this problem with the seller hardtofindrecordings. Back in december 3rd I won an auction from him for a new Origins of Film DVD set with a buy it now price of $30. I paid for priority mail shipping and ten days later I recieve a complete refund for the set with this message attached:

SORRY, YOUR PACKAGE WAS SENT OUT AND CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY DESTROYED
BY THE POST OFFICE AND SINCE WE DON'T HAVE ANY MORE COPIES WE HAVE HAD
TO ISSUE A COMPLETE REFUND. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE DISAPPOINTMENT.
I smelled that this was complete bs and that they didn't want to fullfil the order because the boxset was selling for more than the price I purchased it, but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Now today, they are selling the same item again on ebay for $110!!!!

I know there is something fishy in all of this. Is there something I can do? Will ebay do something if I contact them?

It does sound as if there is more to the story than what the seller told you, but since he gave you a full refund, I can't imagine that eBay would investigate. The most you could do would be to leave appropriate feedback, but since it's four months later, that probably is no longer an option.

I wish all sellers would just stick with the prices they set and be happy with it.

I mean really, if he/she didn't want to sell the set for $30 then why bother posting it with a "buy it now" price?

But you bought it and recieved a refund so everything looks ok in Ebay's eyes.

I had something happen very simmilar to the above situation a while back. I bought the Kevin James Sweat the Small Stuff DVD from a site at the price of $14.95. This was right after it went OOP. Well, about 2 months later, after they asked agian and again if I wanted to cancel my order, they just refunded my money. Needless to say, about 2 months later, they just happened to get some in and were selling them for over $60.00 Great way to get me to buy from them again.....

It's not beyond the realm of possiblility that the package did come back completely shredded. I mailed out a dvd packed in a box, secured well with strapping tape. About three weeks later, I received back a part of the top and side of the box. Where everything else went, I do not know. I put the remainder of the package in an envelope and mailed it to the buyer, along with a refund check and an apology.

It seems like the post office doesn't screw up often, but when they do, they do it big time.
