How does Amazon ship pre-oders with supersaver shipping?
Mainly just curious when I should expect to receive it. Is it pretty close to the release date or should I just spring for the extra $5

I get my shipment 2 days after I get a shipping email with SS shipping from Amazon but usually the shipping email does not come until 5 to 10 days after the release date usually.

I tried to pre-order a DVD from Amazon with the super-saver shipping but the item total was less than $25. So I added another DVD, but Amazon wouldn't accept the super-saver shipping because one item was ready to ship and one wasn't.
I ended up waiting until the release day and then ordering both items. Got the package just a few days later.

When I've supersaver shipping, it usually arrives 2 days from shipping. It usually ships on Monday, so I usually get it the day after release of release. Occasionally (if they ship from Kentucky) it takes until Friday or so. On rare occasions, as with the Warner Legends set, it hasn't even shipped for several weeks after release, but I think that set generally had shortages when it first came out.

For me, supersaver shipping usually takes a bit longer to process at Amazon than regular shipping. Once it leaves Amazon, it gets here in 2-3 days for both supersaver and regular shipping though.

I'm in Canada and I get it on the release date I'd say 80% of the time. That's through www.amazon.ca though

I always use Super Saver shipping, pre-orders or not. In-stock items usually are in my hands in less than a week from when I place the order. Pre-order items usually arrive a day or two after the release date.

Per Amazon.com's Super Saver Shipping policy, your item will ship out later than if you chose another method of shipment per this link:
http://www.amazon.com/supersavershipping
To quote:
Select Super Saver Shipping as your shipping speed. Please note that your order will take an additional 3 to 5 days to ship.
Personally, I'm experiencing a delay in the 2-Disc set of Walk The Line due to the policy, but it's free and I've seen the movie, so I can wait

It's a crap shoot in my experience with both pre-orders and regular orders.
Some times the free shipping is fast, other times it takes up to 2 weeks from the order date on in stock items or the release date on preorders.
I only buy from their when they have a super deal or I have Keynote or credit card Amazon GCs to burn.
