Student discount at Apple Store B&M?

I'm in the market for an iPod video, and I don't want to get it via the online store. Has anyone had experience/trouble using the student discount at a B&M Apple Store? Thanks in advance.

I've never heard anyone use it B&M. But I hear it is EXTREMELY easy to use via the online store. Have fun with your ipod----they are amazing!!!

Nah, the bookstore doesn't have them in stock. I'm not sure if we could order them, though...

THe main reason I'm concerned is that I don't want to get one, have it flake out on me early, and then have to mail it back. I'd prefer to deal with someone directly in the store. (for some reason I have this pipedream that the people in the store may actually be informed employees...)

Could depend on who you ask. I picked up a "refreshed" 4g iPod 2 months ago in store and didn't even know about the student discount until the employee mentioned it. Unfortunately, since the iPod was a refresh model, the discount couldn't be stacked.

I guess you could always call ahead and ask instead of possibly wasting your time going to the store and be denied.

I used my government ID to get the "discount" at the Apple Store. Was no hassle at all really - certainly worth the 8% off on such a big ticket item!

I used my "student discount" at an Apple Store for a 1G ipod in 2002. Worked like a charm. You fill out a form with school, id number, etc, and they give you the discount.

I just did this about a month ago. I just showed them my student ID, and they gave me 10% off my 4GB nano. It was that simple. Too bad I graduated in May 2005.
