Netflix just lowered my rate... anyone else?

I just got an e-mail from Netflix:

We hope you're enjoying the convenience and selection of your Netflix 3 DVDs-at-a-time plan. Our goal has always been to offer a great service at a great price. Well, the great price just got better!

We are lowering the price of our 3 DVDs-at-a-time plan in your area from $17.99 a month to $16.99 a month plus applicable taxes.

Your membership will automatically move to the lower $16.99 price. The lower price will appear on your next bill on or after December 20, 2005. You will still get the same great service and convenience. So please sit back, relax and enjoy your movies!

-The Netflix Team

I've had the same plan since July 2004. What's up? Is it competition bringing this on?

That's pretty cool. Maybe it's because their member base is growing. Hopefully I see the price change soon as well

All you have to do is threaten to cancel and say that you are going to Blockbuster Online and they will drop it a few bucks...I guarantee it.

Blockbuster very recently announced they're increasing the 3 out price from $14.99 to $17.99.

^Yeah, and I'll bet they picked that date just to spite you specifically.

I'd rather the service get better and the price stay the same.

I'm still on the 4 out plan at $17.99 and have yet to get anything about my price being lowered.
My service remains decent though.
If I put a disk in the mail on Mon., I just about always have a replacement in my home on Wed.

That's really nice for you. My experience has been when I drop discs on Monday, they never "receive" them before Thursday (despite the fact that the distribution center is only 75 miles away). Then, I get new movies on Friday if I'm lucky, Saturday more typically, and sometimes not until the following Monday.

I just got the email as well, cool for me! I only occasionally have trouble with Netflix, nothing significant though.

Rather than start a whole new thread, this one works.

After lowering the 3-out from $17.99 to $16.99 a few weeks ago, I got an email last night saying it would be lowered again to $15.99 starting today!

Did Blockbuster lower to $15.99 when Netflix went to $16.99?

How low can they go?

I just signed up for 3 out at 16.99. I might have to threaten a move so they put me back down to 15.99.

Blockbuster RAISED prices It's $17.99 for a total of 5 movie exchanges. Still want unlimited swaps? $24.99 a month.

I might have to move to Netflix... $2 cheaper but I lose the 5 movie swap... still might be worth it.

But if you compare how many movies you get a week from blockbuster, online and in-store, is it cheaper than the same amount from Netflix?

Could anyone tell me how much 6 out at a time is through Netflix?

It's $35.99 (plus tax). For every movie you add on to your plan, above 4 (which is 23.99/month), it basically increases by $6 per month.

I mentioned this in another thread, but my basic rate with Netflix has been $15.99 for months now. I don't know why and it wasn't promotional. That's just what it reverted to after my free trial.

How the heck did you get the 4 out plan so cheap? I have been on the 4 out plan for awhile and it has always been $23.99.

You're quoting a post from 2005.
