My membership at Sams netted me a 360 on launch day with only an hour and a half wait. I'd say it was worth it.

However, as an RZ member you do get special offers once or twice a year on hardware that can make all the difference in the world if you happen to be looking for something. For instance, last year I was in the market for a new TV. They sent me an offer for $500 off a TV, a free Tivo, double RZ points, and free shipping. After doing a lot of research, that was the best deal on the TV I wanted. Not only did I get the $500 off, but I got a $100 rebate for the free Tivo, and around $220 in RZ cards. No other store could even come close to that deal.
Exactly. They give out bonus points, double points, etc. So I bet it is still more like 12,500 = $5. There have also been probably a dozen non-advertised deals for members the past few months, so while you think your advertised $15.99 new release is a steal, it rings up at $12.99 for me.

As for getting in free or cheap, there have been a few options in the past year. I think they were all part of various 10% mailers, since those go to non RZ members as well. Even if you don't get those, the coupons are always posted here. I recall one that was buy the card for $10 and they'd mail you $10 in certificates for signing up. Assuming you would make 1 purchase at all in a year, that = Free.

If you buy something big not only does it pay for itself but you can talk the employee into giving you one. A friend did this about 4 months ago. He bought a plasma and told them he wanted the card, warranty and X amount of points for free for the sale or he was going elsewhere. He got it all. He got around $250 back.

Bah, I just wait until well after launch to pick up consoles most of the time. There usually isn't any games I consider must have's at launch anyway.

The N64 with Super Mario 64 was the last console to launch with a "must have" game for me. The GC, PS2, X-box and X-box 360 had nothing I was dying to play at launch.

I spend more than $300 a year at Best Buy. (This year I bought a 50" DLP, and they had the lowest price to start with) Tell me why I shouldn't belong again?

Lowest Price or Price Match + Rewards Zone = Even lower price.

Yep, that kind of thing happens a lot. I'm not one to follow their sales (unless I'm looking for something in particular,) so unless they send me a mailer with coupons, I usually have no idea what deals are going on. I was at BB yesterday picking up some gifts, and grabbed the 3 Harry Potters, marked on sale for $10 each, and a universal remote. After it was rung up, it seemed kind of cheap. I checked the receipt and found that the DVDs were about $8, and then I got an additional 15% off the entire purchase for being a RZ member. it was a nice surprise.
