DVDSoon.com is DVD no more!!

Effective immediately...

Dear Client;

It is with a lot of regret and sadness that we must announce the
closure
of the company 9086 - 8316 Québec Inc who managed the operations of
DVDSoon.com.

The assets of DVDSoon.com have been taken by Canadian
Distribution Services which means the site will remain open and all
activities will be maintained. Therefore all pending orders will be
honored.

Unfortunately all operations that were suspended and were the
responsibility of 9086 - 8316 Québec Inc will not be honored. These
operations include credits, refunds, replacement requests, and Fidelity
iPoints.

If you wish to obtain more information please send your questions to:

9086 - 8316 Québec Inc.
1001, Boul. Montarville #75023
Boucherville Québec

We thank you for your support and your comprehension.

The Administration,

I got this e-mail and thought it better to start a new thread so people are forewarned!!!

Ouch. I hope everyone got their money back from the CC company.

I got that e-mail today too and immediately came here to see what the outcome was.

Only ordered one thing from them in the past. Once I received it, I never dealt with them again.

No kidding. I never ordered from them, but thought about it once or twice. Good luck to everyone!

About time, they were basically a fraudulent company. All smoke and mirrors, and no real answers. Finally went down the tubes where it belongs.

I want to thank DVD Talk for the services they provide. I was tempted many times by DVDSoon's prices, but always remembered that bad experiences that others posted about them here, and stayed clear.

Which is why I feel it a duty to post my experiences with companies, good and bad, in the forums. No matter how factual a complaint is, there will always be some lacky to post a positive rebuttal. Nevertheless, I think MOST e-tailers could do a better job with customer service than they are right now. If an actual physical store tried to pull half the crap that most e-tailers do, no one would shop with them.

DVDSoon gone? Outside of the money that they are taking with them, its a good thing.

I'll leave on a positive note. My current favorite: DVD Empire. Their customer service people actually answer their emails (more than I can say for most other companies)

I agree, DVDEmpire has some of the best customer service I've dealt with (it's just their prices that keep me from being more loyal).

Good riddance

I hope the dirty bastards burn in hell. They caused me a lot of grief, aggravation, and lost time in pursuing a refund (charge-back) from my credit card company for nearly six months. In the old days, thieves such as DVDSlow would be hung in the town-center from the sturdiest tree. I wish they operated from one of the Islamist countries. In those countries, thieves have their left hand chopped off for their first offense, and then the second hand chopped off for the second offense. After that, the Muslims believe it is pretty hard to steal anything only using your two wrists pressed together!

You know what, if you use their coupons, the prices are pretty close to the "great" Deep Discount 20% off sale. Maybe 5%-10% more, if that. For the peace of mind in dealing with a company that has, so far to me at least, been extremely easy to deal with, that's a very small price to pay.

I, for one, never had a problem with DVDSoon.

I ordered 49 DVD's from them, and the only issue I had was that my Rocky Anthology Rocky disc was scratched to hell and wouldn't play about half way through. I issued a replacement submittal and received a replacement (after I sent the copy I had back).

Of course, I had read all the horror stories from others, and am not really surprised they went under.

Yeah, too bad for the people who got stuck with non-issued refunds. It almost seems fraudulent what they did re: "not being able to issue refund checks until December" while they probably fully knew they would be gone by then. What was up with that?

Also another for DVDEmpire.

I had almost no problems too and I ordered a lot more than you did. The couple of problems I did have were fixed quite easily.

But fortunately, I stopped ordering from them when prices increased, the Fidelity deals started going south and the coupons stopped. My last order was May 12, 2005. I got everything delivered and got away scot-free.

FWIW, I never had a problem with them either before this summer. Something internally must have happened b/c that is when the shit hit the fan for everyone.

I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I would be AWEFULLY leerie of DVDImport or DVDsoon, even though they (DVDSoon) "claim" to be under new management. I am one who has ordered MANY items from them for well over 3 years, and didn't have a bit of trouble until around May-June time-frame. Fortunately, I got my money back from my credit card company, so nothing is lost. However, right now, I lean on thinking that the "new" owners of DVDSoon is just really the old owner under a different name. One would think that if new owners were truly there, they would send emails to all past customers announcing new ownership, maybe use a coupon or sale to entice people to come back, they would put some kind of message on their website, or even change it somewhat. In fact, I don't even think that the physical address of the place has been changed on the website (someone may want to verify that for me, though just in case). Can anyone do any research and find out if that is the case or not...?

Their main distributor, which was located right next to them, went under. That's when the problems started and that was the sign to STOP ordering from them. Prior to that, I had no problem with them whatsoever. I was well aware that their shipping was notoriously slow, especially on non-stock items and that didn't bother me because I knew I'd get my orders eventually. Sure they still owe me $56 but I probably saved over $500 ordering from them so big deal. Some people make it sound like they have always been crooks and that ordering from them was a sin.

Yep I ordered them for years, they were good. But when they cancelled all my preorders suddenly due to their BS accounting system and refused to refund the credit since it was "too complicated" I knew it was time to do a charge back.

I think its pretty bad that they led people on promising a cheque in 6 weeks and replying emails saying that the money was coming when they didn't tell the real story.

IF YOU HAVE ANY BRAINS AT ALL, DON'T BUY FROM THE NEW OWNER, SINCE WHY IS THEIR DOMAIN NAME FOR SALE ON EBAY STILL???

I think they destroyed all their best and loyal customers, I ordered heaps from them for many years, all they needed to do was refund a small amount of monye, 1 dvd's worth and I would have still been a customer, but no. So they deserve to go under completely, lets hope the new business goes under, since the brand new is totally destroyed
Their brandname is not even worth $1 now

I agree with your analysis. I think the same bunch of thieves and liars are still operating DVDSlow. Probably, no one would buy their web site. Why would anyone in their right mind purchase a store or internet site with the rotten reputation that DVDSlow has earned? You would have to be insane (or senile) to give these bastards your credit card number again.

Of course the same people are still running DVDSoon. Why else have we not heard from the supposed new owners? Instead of fulfilling all outstanding orders, they seem happy to keep taking new orders. I'll be steering clear of these guys indefinitely.

I've followed your guys plight (luckily never ordered from these bozos) and was bored tonight, so I did a whois.ca lookup. Here is the information from whois.cirs.ca :
Name M. Sebastien Dumais
Job Title Technical Director
Postal Address 9086-8316 Qubec inc. o/a DVDSoon.com 27A, rue de Lauzon Boucherville QC J4B 1E7 Canada
Phone 450-449-4301
Fax 450-449-7380
Email [email protected]
That information was last updated 2005/09/29. So we can consider this the contact for the "old owners."

Now checkout dvdsoon.com's contact page:
DVDSoon.com H.O.
27A, rue de Lauzon
Boucherville, QC
J4B 1E7, CANADA
Look familiar? It's pretty obvious that this "new company" is fictional (and not even any attempt to disguise it).

Sorry for all those who lost money, these people are pathetic. I'm sure you guys tried to get the canadian version of the FBI involved... If this happened here, you can bet the FBI would have caught the crooks (with one of their routine cybercrime crackdowns, based on complaints).

I thought the Canadian equivalent of the FBI was two kids with BMXs and propeller-hats.
