Deep Discount DVD Question????Buffy Chosen Collection

Just ordered my Buffy Chosen Collection set from them. Got a great deal with discount coming out to 112.00. My question, has anyone ordered from them and is this place shady? Just called them today and the person I talked to doesn't even sounds like he knew what I was talking about. I asked this person if the Set was on stock and he said he didn't know. Get this I said Buffy, and he said how do you spell that? Shit, I hope I didn't get ripped off as I just paid via credit card. Please help..

Count Dooku 11-17-05 05:46 PM

if you're concerned, cancel the order and order from Deep Discount DVD for the same price

Muffins 11-17-05 05:52 PM

DDD Legit?

Posted this on another forum. Just ordered my Buffy Chosen collection from these cats today before the sale ends. Great deal at 112.00. Just wondering are these guys frauds or will i actually get the goods. I emailed them yesterday asking if the set was back ordered and got no reply. I just went on and ordered it today because the value is to good as it ends on Saturday using the code "dvdtalk". Minutes after ordering via online and credit card, I called them in hopes of getting to know if the Set is on stock. I cat I talked to was some foreign sounding cat, and I'm beginning to wonder if DDD is even in this country? I beginning to question their practices? The guy taking my ordered didn't know what set I was talking about. Gees, how can you work at a movie place and don't know movies. You don't even have to watch it, just keep up with the new releases. Please help... as I feel I'm gonna get my set in 3 months. Today is November 17, 2005. I'll write back 10 days from now on the 27th and let you guys know.

I.Flores 11-17-05 05:53 PM

Lol you're kidding, right?

JoN8282 11-17-05 05:54 PM

i've spent thousands of dollars with DDD - and have never had a problem

Muffins 11-17-05 05:54 PM

Yeah, that's who I ordered it from DDD -Deep Discount Dvd.

That's what I thought it stood for.

arsmith7 11-17-05 05:54 PM

:spam:

In all reality... people at this site has put $100,000 into DDD this sale. I think it is fairly well trusted.

Snowmaker 11-17-05 05:55 PM

And I thought I worry too much.

I just placed my first order ever with them. I figure with all the people on here that have ordered hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and have been ordering from them for a long time, they must be reputable.

I'm more concerned with the condition my stuff arrives in.

John*D 11-17-05 05:57 PM

My only problem with DDD is that they only use Craft Paper to cushion their shipments. I've gotten some broken/loose/smooshed dvd sets. I wish they would pack them a little tighter with more packing material or shrinkwrap them together and to the box itself (a la AMAZON).

Other than that they are good. CSR's never know anything!

Muffins 11-17-05 05:59 PM

Dude, I was just wondering. If you called the guy I was talking to you would be frustrated too. Shit, imagine talking to Fez from that 70's show about the status of your order.

Assuming you actually mean you ordered from Deep Discount DVD, you're fine. That's why one of the coupon codes is DVDTALK --- DDD is trusted and well-supported around here.

Tip: In the future, the thing to do is ask this sort of question before you order, and perhaps poke around or search in DVD Talk's Store forum area for feedback on particular e-tailers.

Muffins 11-17-05 06:02 PM

Thanks John for the heads up. If anybody here works at DDD, please let us know if you have the Buffy Collection on stock so I know if it's coming in. I have a daughter bugging my ass everyday for this damn thing.

DVDMagic 11-17-05 06:02 PM

Don't worry about them. I've ordered from them and so have most people who post here. You don't have anything to worry about. Great price on the set. If you selected free shipping you should expect it in about or week or so.

Muffins 11-17-05 06:05 PM

Thanks guys for the help. I just hate dealing with credit cards. Usually never buy stuff online but my Boarders, Walmart, and Costco doesn't carry the set.

Johnny Zhivago 11-17-05 06:10 PM

Just go to the site and add it to your cart to see the order status... It is currently on back-order. DDD are a very reputable company and will ship your order as soon as it is available again (and they are in Illinois, FYI). Relax d00d.

Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. 11-17-05 06:25 PM

I just had to call customer service and I got someone from India. Took awhile but we communicated.

Check your order status online, it will tell if it is back ordered. It also told you if it was back ordered when you put it in your cart, but apparently you didn't see it.

FWIW, this set has been back ordered since Tuesday when it was released. How do I know? I saw it on the site, and in the cart.

Cemetery Man 11-17-05 07:23 PM

They have a tendencey to delete my accounts with them as my email address is no longer associated with an account it seems like on their web site. I did call them today and after about 20 rings a girl answered who sounded not so thrilled to be there and took my order number and confirmed my order shipped today. I guess their site just likes to eat me accounts as this is the 2nd time my account info has been deleted from the site. So I'll have my full opinion of the service ready when my package arrives. Great prices though.

andicus 11-17-05 08:46 PM

What is it with posts like this? If you did any reading of the forum, you'd know that there have been THOUSANDS of legit orders through DDD. If you're so worried about buying online, don't do it.

And, when they're this busy during their 20% off sale, they've obviously hired on some extra help. I can't say that I'm surprised that everyone that works there isn't familiar with every DVD they sell.

Stick around, we will educate you on the good places to shop at! Deep Discount DVD has always been a good store! Not perfect (but who is, come on!) but when they aren't perfect, they have a good customer service staff willing to help. And if you ever do need to contact them, give them a call instead of emailing them.

spawndude 11-17-05 11:35 PM

I dont think you have to worry about geting ripped off at DDD. I dont recall ever reading a post about being cheated by DDD. Messed up orders or damaged DVD's yes, but not taking your money and not shipping the product.

Muffins 11-18-05 03:55 PM

Thanks again everyone for the encouragment. "You can do it!"

They expect it the backorder to arrive at DDD on the 27th and with shipping, hopefully the job gets done.

Yeah, I will hang around and check for bargains. Thanks again everyone!

And for any newbies, I learned this, don't email them, it doesn't reply.

Call instead.

raytrade 11-19-05 02:51 AM

This was truly a funny thread. How a newbie found out about the DVDTALK code to place an order but seems oblivious to DDD's trustworthiness is beyond me, as there have been well over 2000 posts in the past few days about DDD's sale. DVDTalkers look forward to the DDD sales like many people look forward to Black Friday. It is not anexaggeration to say many DVDTalkers prepare their wish lists and start saving money for weeks if not months before the sale, then as soon as it is on, the forum goes nuts with hundreds of posts an hour about what people are ordering.

Fellow DVD talk might remember this post. I am a newbie and had questions about DDD. I had an item shipped out on the 11/23 and paid a premium for 2-5 day delivery. I has been 12 days and haven't received jack yet. My beef, why would anyone pay a premium for shipping if the item never arrives in the estimated time table?

My Buffy Chosen Collection was backordered and was shipped out last week. The estimated day of arrival at the latest was the 12/6. I got C-note saying there is no way this comes in by the 12/6. As for my first DVD it wasn't a box set (but a single) but there is no excuse for the delay.

All the members here say DDD is legit but hell, when you pay for something you should be it promptly. The last order I had was from Bodybuilding.com and I got it in 4 days. No allegations, no lost shipment no doubt.

I'm telling you guys this, the value you save on DDD's sale is NOT worth the wait. If I knew this I might as well pay full price and order it from a department store. At least these guys will comp me some crap if I bring it up.

I'm not one to vent, but this is ridiculous.

Again, I emailed them for the 6th time today, Sunday, and they probably will say they will ship another one out via 2-5 day delivery. And guess what, I got another C-note saying this my shipment doesn't come in by New Year's. I will probably have to e-mail them again at New Years but their excuse will probably be it's Christmas and New Years and shipping is really busy. But then again, it will be over a month since my initital order. Again what happened to the extra I paid for 2-5 day priority shipping?

If anybody out there works for DDD please get your crap together? If they were really professional about my complaint there would ring up initital order, but it in one big box and have it on my doorstep in 2 days. Damn, maybe even comp my another horror movie. Damn, I don't care if they have to pay $30 for overnight shipping. A big company like that has to have more money that that.

All supporters of DDD don't tell me otherwise. You don't know jack.

And I have a C-note that says we do.

Most of us have ordered from DDD for years with little or no problem. Are they perfect? Of course not, no retailer is.

Not to make excuses, but during the holidays, especially when DDD is running a great sale, higher volume can lead to a few glitches. In my experience, when there is a problem, DDD makes things right.

Quit dicking around with e-mail and call DDD's toll-free customer service number: (800) 264-5076 (Monday through Friday from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. CT and Saturday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. CT).

I got another C-note that says everything will be settled.

If you look again, you'll see that it is 3-5 days, not 2-5 days. Anyways...

What day was it shipped out? Why don't you think it will get there by Tuesday (12/6) if that is the projected date? A lot of this complaining is quite humorous because you seem to be expecting the post office to deliver the package in 2 days, and possibly even on a Sunday. That won't happen. Ever.

Also, keep in mind the post office themselves says that the 3-5 days is a best try on their part. If you were really needing this order ASAP I would have suggested springing for the extra $3 and getting guaranteed second day UPS.

Muffins 12-05-05 03:42 AM

If you fools read my post I said I had another DVD shipped out on the 11/23. And yes dumbass, I paid the extra $5.00 for the 2-5 day USPS delivery. If you do the math, thats 13 days. I got a C-Note saying that doesn't even come in by tomorrow Monday 12/5. Why pay the premium and not get jack?

You fucks think your so smart but ain't that's alright. You took my bet right?

I let you know if my box set comes in by the 12/6. I'll give you my address if anybody wants to take my bet!!! That's Tuesday my Box Set should arrive right? And as for my other DVD delivered on the 11/23 well it should've been here alreadly. I paid extra for shipping. Not the free crap!!

Unbelievable, instead of helping me out your trying to test me. Read my post before this and see why calling them would PROBABLY be no use.
Anyway, your probably a deadbeat anyway that works for DDD.

Our records indicate that the DVD: XXXX from order #XXXXXXXX was shipped on 11/23 via USPS Priority Mail, which normally takes 2-5 days to arrive.

The item DVD: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER was shipped on 12/01 via USPS Priority mail.

Do the math moomoo, 2-5 days ain't gonna happen!! I got a C-note on that!
OWNED!!!!

AND GET THIS LET'S SAY DDD DID SCREW UP AND LOSE MY ORDER, MY NEW SHIPMENT WOULD NO WAY COME IN BY NEW YEAR'S. WHY? BECAUSE IT'S SOOOOOO BUSY, RIGHT? WITH CHRISTMAS AND ALL!! C'MON, GIVE ME A BREAK. IF I'M LATE A PAYMENT FOR MY AUTO INSURANCE, THEY CANCEL IT IMMEDIATELY. FUCKING HARTFORD!! IF I MISS A CREDIT CARD PAYMENT MINIMUM, BAM!!, PAY THE PENALTY. SHIT, IF I MISS MY BOOKIES PAYMENT MORE THAN A COUPLE OF DAYS, THE VIGORISH START'S ADDING UP ON EVERY DAY I'M LATE. GET THE DRIFT.. YOU CALL YOURSELF REPUTABLE..... WHAT A JOKE...

I can see the beauty in Best Buy and all those other overpriced department stores, atleast you get your products promptly.

My daughter has been awaiting her birthday present from DDD but I guess I'll have to give it to her for Christmas. or rather Easter.....

Like I said, I'll call them on the 12/7 if I don't get anything and what do you suppose they'll do? Oh yeah, well send you another one... I have no doubt in that, when will I get it?.....Who knows? Answer.... 2-5 days right? Gimme a break!!! And for newbie's, heed my warning.... You pay, you get your product, but when..... Luckily for DDD, their not dealing computer's or that shit would be played out by the time it arrives... ADVICE for anyone out there, paying extra for shipping will not make you shipment come in any faster.... I even wonder if they are pocketing the shipping fees and sending them regular USPS mail.... That would explain alot. Use those shipping fees to pay those College Students who run the CUSTOMER SERVICE at DDD. I ain't that stupid... All the foreign sounding people always picking up the phone. Like I said, before, I paid X-TRA for shipping and all I would wish to have is my product. Again, I had a item shipped on the 11/23 and it's a NO SHOW. I why would I believe an item I have shipped out on 12/01 would be here at a faster rate. Again 2-5 days........ Unbelievable. Once I get my shipment it's over with DDD. You can BAN me from this forum as it makes no sense what so ever to deal with UNCERTAIN online Merchants like DDD.

Becides the fact that you've been suspended (check your email), you should remember their estimated delivery date is just that, a ESTIMATE, and media mail shipments say "X - X BUSINESS DAYS" ..Though that probably doesn't mean the same for Priority, you could take that into consideration. Obviously post office works on weekends (Saturdays), but sometimes shit gets lost. Sometimes weather delays things, and sometimes you're so far out from a "big" town it will take even longer. DDD didn't "screw" up, the post office did probably. And as renaldow said, you should call them. They'll probably refund the shipping if you ask politely enough.

And if you read my post you would have known that I suggested you pay a little more and go for the 2 day UPS option as that is the most reliable way to get your products from any online store.

Josh-da-man 12-05-05 12:43 PM

When you pay extra for shipping, it means that DDD won't be shipping it media mail. It does not mean that:

1) The carrier they ship it by (USPS Priority, UPS, or whatever) will necessarily ship it any faster. Sometimes Priority Mail and UPS packages take as long to arrive as media mail. That's out of DDD's hands.

2) They will get backordered items any faster.

Anyway, yelling usually isn't the best answer to solve a situation. Trust me, I understand frustration, and the post office will understand my frustration whenever I can make it there this week, but once you start yelling, they tune you out.

As someone else said, notify DDD about it and you should get your shipping costs refunded.
