Free Amazon Prime 4 Month Trial
I was just going through the checkout and I was offered a free four month trial to Amazon Prime.
You will need to add an item to your cart, then select either One-Day or Two-Day shipping. The offer will show up under Shipping Options.

worked for me earlier (saw a post on FW)..I added about $200 worth of items to my cart, selected free shipping, went to check out and saw the option (you don't have to complete the purchase, it'll bring you back to the last screen with shipping options, then you can just go back to amazon.com to clear your cart)..
for those who are wondering and don't want to read, they give you a date it expires, and you will get *TWO* (yes, 2) email reminders to cancel before you are charged $80 bucks..
and for those who don't know what prime is, you get free two-day delivery option (on most?) new items sold directly from amazon.com, and if you want overnight, it costs you only $3.99 ...
This might not last long, so those who might want this, do it ASAP!..

I paid for an Amazon Prime account several months ago.
I have to say that overall it's worth it. It's not always really 2 day shipping, sometimes it can be 3 or 4 days (or 5 if you order on Friday night), but free is free.
The one thing I recommend, though, is to keep on top of them. Many a time I've had a new release pre-ordered months in advance, it shows in my account as being scheduled to arrive the day after the street date, but I never get a shipping notice. To Amazon's credit, though, as soon as I point out this error, I get free next-day shipping on the item and it's sent immediately.

I just signed up as well and I am sure I will get a lot of use out of this over the next 4 months. Also, just a heads up they do put a temporary charge of $1 on your credit/debit card.

I signed up. Cancelled something I ordered yesterday that hadn't gone into "shipping soon" category. Cancelled that order, reordered with free 2-day!

Keep trying!

Hrm I wonder why mine's not working. I did the same thing, added a bunch of items eligible for free shipping (all DVDs) worth over $200, went to checkout, and where it offers you a free trial mine just says "you have chosen Standard Shipping for $8.92. We thought you would like to know that you can get unlimited Standard or Two-Day Shipping for FREE on over a million items sold by Amazon.com with a $79-per-year Amazon Prime membership. "

I keep getting this: "you have chosen One-Day Shipping for $11.98. We thought you would like to know that you can get unlimited One-Day Shipping for $3.99 per item on over a million items sold by Amazon.com with a $79-per-year Amazon Prime membership."
What kind of items are you putting in your cart? I have been trying with DVDs with no luck.

I didn't even add $200 worth of items in my cart and it still gave me the offer. I just put the recent Alfred Hitchcock boxset in my cart, which is like $90, and went to checkout and there it was.

I think I got it to work. I got the email confirmation that I joined the 4 month free trial, but on the order page (which I did not submit and actually order anything) it says that the annual membership fee was charged to my CC. I'm calling amazon to ask if it was actually charged.
I placed DVDs in my cart worth over $200 and chose 2 day shipping and it came up.

Thanks for the info! Also worked for me. I did notice that I was unable to upgrade my current preorders that were supersaver shipping to free 2 day shipping - I had to cancel the order then reorder.

Here is what I did:
1) Add $200+ to cart.
2) When given the chance, selected "one-day" shipping.
3) Went all the way to the last confirmation screen.
Then it gave me the option. It wasn't there when I initially selected "one-day" shipping. I had to go to the very last confirmation screen before it gave me the option.
Also, I have an Amazon.com visa I selected to pay for the order. I wonder if that might be a reason I was able to get it. Has anyone gotten it who does not have an amazon visa?

Worked for me. I added the Monty Python Flying Circus complete set to my cart and selected free super saver shipping. The offer appeared on the very last page before clicking the final confirmation of the order. I was able to take the free Prime membership and not actually place the DVD order.
I have placed several orders recently using free Super Saving shipping so maybe that's why I got the offer for the free Prime membership.

Thanks, worked for me as well! Now I just hope I get the opportunity to take advantage of it during the next 4 months... I have 1 order pending right now, but I can't cancel and re-place it since the prices have gone up. I emailed customer service. Hopefully they will come through for me...
