Question about Amazon.com

It sounds like it was pointing you to an Amazon Zshop, which means it could be used or new. You'd have to read the description of who you choose to buy it from to know.

I've sold a lot of DVDs on Amazon and have had good luck. I tend to list items for less than others seller's prices to make a quick sale, but have gotten E-bay level or higher prices for several OOP DVDs thanks in part I'm sure to the nutty prices that other people are trying to get. A word of caution, there is no order confirmation feature, so you will have to issue a refund if the item is no longer available. A nice feature is that they pay you at the time of sale, you can transfer your balance into your bank account at any time.

Basically, for a DVD, Amazon will collect $1.55 ($.99 listing fee, .65 variable fee) for one sent standard shipping, plus 15% of its final price for commision. Costs of shipping are mandated by them.
For Ebay, you'd have to be selling a DVD for more than $50 to get charged more than $1.20 for insertion fees, and they charge at most 5.12% of the final price for commision. Shipping costs are up to individual seller.
The advantage with Amazon is that they basically sell the item for you, with a product page, images, description, and reviews. Also, it's a set price, so you know what you'll end up with. Finally, you don't pay anything unless it sells. With Ebay, you could end up paying insertion fees for an item that doesn't sell.
So, Ebay wins in fees, but Amazon gives you a definite price and no risk.
Of course, Amazon Auctions offers better rates than Ebay, but who shops there?
