Question about Borders Rewards card
I went into Borders tonight with the intention of getting a Borders Rewards card, but was told they don't give them out (supposedsly because it is the only store in the state or some stupid reason like that). My question is,when you get one of these cards,do you have to fill out a bunch of stuff or can you basically just take one. If you don't have to fill anything out, i was hoping to find someone who would be willing to grab me one and i could pay them to mail it to me or something.

What is a Borders Rewards Card? I've never heard of this.
Do you mean the Borders VISA card? They don't just hand out credit cards. You have to apply for it through the mail or online.

They were giving them out to everyone a few months ago. After you got it, you'd register on their site.

I got one, but outside of being emailed the coupons that are posted around here anyway, I don't ever see myself spending $50 in a month at Borders. And what do you get for it.. a day of shopping with a 10% discount or something? The coupons are better than that! Unless I'm missing something with the card, it hardly seems worth it.

Oh weird. I did a google search on "Borders Rewards Card" and only the credit card came up. I never heard of this other card. Looking at the website, though, it doesn't look like much of a deal. I would rarely spend $50 on books in a month, and a 10% discount isn't much of a deal. It barely covers tax in CA.
It reminds me of JetBlue's frequent flyer program that requires you to fly 4 or 5 roundtrips to get a free flight. Some people might manage that, but not me.

Does the 10% off for the special shopping day stack with the coupons you get through email? If not, then i agree it isn't worth bothering with.

I used the current 25% off coupon today and a personal shopping day making my total discount 35%. Plus, the reward program credits 5% of your total to a Christmas fund, which is valid from late November to January, I think.
Also on my receipt today, there is a 30% off coupon for 1 item, valid Sept. 1st - 5th.
