DDD Mangling DVD's?

Guys, what are your recent experiences with DDD shipping? I got a package with three DVD's this week, all keepcases, and The Insider arrived with a nice hole punched in the back. Went straight through the plastic and the insert.

I figured I'd just roll with it, but I've read in some places that box sets have taken a beating in transit. Has anyone else ordered Firefly, for example? If so, did it arrive in good condition? I realize there are different batches of product--I'm just trying to get a general idea, is all.

Never had a problem with DDD. Ive received about 200 DVD's from them (including boxsets) in the past couple of years. Call them and they will replace it I'm sure.

I've made dozens of orders with DDD, and have never had a problem with anything being broken.

My post man kicked my box into my door, so a couple of my dvd's were broken. DDD replaced them right away.

Interesting, thanks for the input, guys.

Green Smurf, you had to pay shipping to send your broken DVD's back to DDD, right?

No, they sent me a label to send the movies back, I just had to find a box to send them in. Just took one from work, so no cost to me.

I have received many scratched or loose DVD's in the last year. Which has prompted me to return many for exchange. And I stress "many".
However, this probably isn't DDD's fault.
It's more likely those wonderful new "far south" production plants.

From my order a few days ago.

My 'For Love or Country - The Arturo Sandoval Story' cardboard snapper DVD had about a thousand wrinkles pressed into it. It looks awful.

My second DVD in my Omen Collection Boxset had its spine split right down the center, cutting through the paper behind the plastic. It looks like someone took a boxcutter to it when unloading it. I hate it when this happens, especially to a boxset, but it's not significant enough to warrant a return.

Why would he do that?

I had a problem one other time with a smashed DVD package (from shipping), which they subsequently replaced. No problem there.

I'm currently trying to get them to resend a copy of Six Feet Under Season 3, which looks to have gotten lost earlier, and is hard to get their attention on to do the reship now. Hopefully it's now on its way, but I've been waiting for a week or two since I last heard from them.

If I have decided not to keep a DVD but they already shipped it, can I just mark the mailer package "return to sender" if it isn't opened (USPS). Or should I take it out of the mailer and re-ship it at my own cost to the return address specified in the return policy?

I recently received a dvd with the case badly warped and a nice bash in the back of it. I emailed and they said they would send me a new case....I don't need just a case, I need the cover as well. Grrrr

I just received my order from the 20% Off Sale, which I placed last week Wednesday June 22nd (today is the 27th). Everything was packed in a sturdy cardboard box with crumpled paper to keep the DVDs from rattling around; nothing was damaged, my order was shipped complete (and FREE!), and I couldn't be happier with DDD's service.

everything was fine with my order. The one complaint i might have is that my rocky box set looked a bit beat up. But its only a slipcover no big deal...

I ordered 3 TV boxsets from this 20% sale. All arrived without any problem. I did have a problem with a DVD I ordered from DDD a couple of years ago. The DVD came with broken case and the disc loose and scatched up inside. But I had no problem getting it exchanged for another copy.

Yesterday I received a package where my Alf season one had a floater that got damaged, and I purchased one of those multi-disc assorted movies in Spanish DVD box sets, and of the four discs that come in two keep cases, discs one and two were floaters that got badly scratched up (the scratches are moderate to heavy, and all over the discs).

Otherwise, a couple of box sets I ordered had one dinged corner, but nothing that makes it worth the hassle of returning them to DDD. If the Spanish ones do not work when I test them out...they go back, otherwise, I ordered over $1600 worth of DVDs from them over the course of the sale, and the majority of dvds (single/boxed sets) were sent promptly, and arrived in great condition (the Hanna Barbera box sets, of which most are definite keepers, were in even better shape then copies I found in B&M stores...Walmart had a Perils of Penelope Pitstop that had a warped/wrinkled back box, DDDs copy was flawless).

I need to give my credit card a long vacation from DDD, but I will definitely be back for their next sale.

Regards from a pleased DDD customer
Christopher H

I recently got a badly damaged dvd from DDD but I suspect the blame lies more with USPS than DDD.

Guys, just an update to my own experience. I called DDD, spoke to Steve, and he e-mailed me a prepaid shipping label to return my busted DVD.

Try calling! It might save you some postage.

I received 10 of 16 items I ordered in the 20% off sale. They ALL look fine. And that includes 6 boxsets. It was well packed with plenty of paper around the DVDs. I opened all the box sets and examined each DVD - no floaters - no scratches. Everything looks fine! :^)
