Does DDD do split shipments?
Yes I did a forum search but I didn't come across anything.
I'm ordering a DVD already in stock and two others that are to be released in August. Does that mean I will get the three items in August?
I live in Canada, in case that matters.

I also read during checkout that "You will not be billed for pre-orders or out of stock
items until your order is shipped."
Does this mean that if I buy, say, 10 items, half of which are pre-orders and the other half in stock, does that mean I can apply the DVDTalk coupon to ALL 10 items, even though I won't be charged for the 5 preorders until later?

Unfortunately, the DVD Talk coupon doesn't apply to preorders.
Regarding split shipments, I believe they will ship what is currently in stock, and ship the preorders as they are released.

Thanks, you two!
Just a question about the split shipments, although you guys may not know, being US customers and all... Will I be charged more that once for S/H if they split my shipment? Canadian orders get a flat $4.95 shipping fee.

Did you already place the order? If not, you could split the orders since the coupon won't work on the pre orders.
I know personally I have had a few shipments not ship until my pre street items came in. I actually preferred it that way as I didn't have the money when I made the order but knew I'd be OK once my pre orders came out.

I haven't yet, but I'm itching to finish the transaction already. :P This is my first purchase from DDD.
I'm still wondering if I will get charged more than once for Canadian shipping ($4.95 flat) if my orders are split. Because If I only get charged once, then I might as well include my preorders in this order I am doing so that the preorders won't get another S/H tacked onto them upon shipment.
You know what, I'm just going to do the order right now and I'll post the results. I can always cancel the preorders later on, I suppose...

Well, hot damn.
WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (VISTA SER $ 11.04 1 $ 11.04
GHOSTBUSTERS 1 & 2 SET (2D W/SCRAP $ 13.91 1 $ 13.91
THE USUAL SUSPECTS (SE) $ 10.93 1 $ 10.93
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES-1ST SEASON $ 38.89 1 $ 38.89
PULP FICTION (COLLECTOR'S EDITION) $ 11.04 1 $ 11.04
It charged me $90.76? No, no, no... It told me I wouldn't be charged for pre-orders! Yes I did click on "place order" but some stupid part of me was waiting for them to tell me that I wouldn't be charged for Ghostbusters and Desperate Housewives.
I guess it's time to email CS...

If your shipment comes in two orders, Canada Post will charge you $5 twice.
*EDIT* Oops, sorry. I thought you meant the Canada Post handling fee. DDD will only charge you one shipping fee.
re. the current charges: Are you sure they actually charged you the full amount on your CC? It could be that the invoice is showing what all the charges WILL be, but only charging your CC for the ones that are currently in stock. That'd be my guess.
Once the other items show up, the additional charges will be made to your card.

Only having to pay the S/H fee once would be awesome.

there were about 10 items that were out of stock and didnt ship with the rest of my order, which arrived today. the remaining items will be shipped as they come in via free media mail. my initial shipment i paid extra for shipping. my credit card was only charged for the shipment that was in stock. i was not charged for those that werent. today DDD shipped me 2 more DVDs that came into stock and i was charged for those 2 DVDs. as the DVDs come into stock, my card will be charged and the items shipped free media mail.
much better than DVDempire's way, which was to wait until the whole shipment came in before shipping. which would not have been a problem EXCEPT when a DVD came into stock, they did not put it aside for you, they sent it to someone else if your order was not completely filled. meaning that ALL the DVDs had to be in-stock and ready to go on the same exact day, otherwise they would just keep giving your DVDs to someone else.
