BestBuy reward certificate question

Question: if i made a purchase at BestBuy where i used a $10 reward certificate, and now need to return the item (unopened), will i be able to get the $10 reward added back to my account at some point, or will i lose it altogether?

If i am not mistaken, they only give you back what you paid for the item.So that would mean you would lose it.

Uh, that's a negative. You don't "lose" it. It's not like an on-line code at BB.com, which by the way has abosultely HORRIBLE redemption restrictions but that's another story. What happens is you get your money back for the difference and the certificate you used gets re-issued to you several weeks later. So if you used your $10.00 cert, the points get put back on your reward zone card as if you never used it, and you'll get another sent back to you. I've done this several times.

I second that. This has already happened to me, and I worried that I'd never see the certificates/credit again. You'll just have to wait a little while until they're re-issued - that's all.

Hmm... quick question about this. Usually when I use a Reward Zone Certificate, the discount gets applied across all items in a purchase. So if I buy five items of equal value, they each get a dollar off their price on the receipt (it does it by price, so if something is more expensive, it gets a bigger percentage of the coupon). So if I return just one of the five items, do I get the dollar back as a cert? Or do I have to return the whole purchase?

You get back what you spent. If they only charged you $X, you get back $X. So no, if the cert balanced it so $1 of the $5 cert went towards DVD X, then returning DVD X would only give you that $1 back. It's only common sense.

So they will actually send out a cert with only, say, 1.20 on it? I figured they'd try something like, if you don't return everything on the receipt, you don't get your coupon back, because it's in increments of 5 bucks.

You would not get a cert for something like say $1.20 or $1.00...what I understand from the folks on this thread, is that the equivalent of $1.00-1.20 worth of RZ POINTS would be re-applied to your RZ account.

Yeah, the points go back to your account when you return an item, and when you acrue enough points again (15,000) then you get another cert in the mail.
