Amazon Gold Box returns - with stupid offers

Well, my Gold Box is back. Good news is it offered me mostly dvds. Bad news is I already own the dvds offered. Worse news is Amazon KNOWS I own them. They know because I told them in hopes of getting better offers. Guess that was a total waste of time. Well, they may blunder into something of interest to me... eventually.

Amazon is always "suggesting" DVDs to me that I've already bought from them. I guess with all their computer horsepower, they think "He bought 'Laura', therefore he might be interested in 'Laura'."

I'm currently not getting any new offers but I might buy something if they used my wishlist as a reference for some future gold box offers. Given a choice to purchase something of interest at a discounted price might get me shopping more at Amazon.

My A9 discount hasn't worked for a while. I do enough searches to keep it alive and have the pi/2% logo at the top of the page. In my shopping cart it says the A9 discount is on. But when I actually try to check out, nothing.

I'm having the same problem. I lost my A9 but got it back after doing some searches. I had one open order in my account that I cancelled and tried to place a new order to get the discount applied on it. However, upon checkout the discount wasn't there even though it said it was supposed to be active. I guess Amazon thinks giving a 1.57% discount is too much these days. The only reason I had the order to begin with is that I had some GCs I needed to use.

I have been waiting for my gold box to return. I normally use IE, but tonight I tried my account with Netscape and the gold box was on my account.

It was all DVD's and now the discount is 5% instead of the old 10%.

You all might try your Amazon account in Netscape.

tried looking at mine in IE two days ago and it was still off, tried just now and it's back, unfortunately, it was worse than before...two or three blank dvd deals that were closed out, and a bunch of CDs I had already purchased a couple years ago, and cough drops...useless..

Didn't show up in Firefox but it did in IE. The offers seem to be as lame as they were months ago.

They must have tweeked it quite a bit because not only were all the items of interest to me, one was actually in my cart.

They've definitely tweaked it. In the past, it used to be just random crap that I didn't care about. This time, every single one of them was directly related to other stuff I had bought... (Star Wars books, books about silent films, a couple of other novels that related to a recent purchase)

I didn't grab anything this time, but I'll definitely check back.

Good grief. Now the format of my home page at amazon has changed and the gold box is a little icon one space in from the help link. No longer in the corner. Earlier today, it was the old format and no goldbox in the corner. The times they are a changing....

The two search boxes (regular and A9) are along the top and the tabs are basically gone and found under one large tab for product categories.
