Ordering from Barnes and Noble from Canada.

I am planning to buy a $48USD box set (yes, the Classic Comedies Collection) from barnesandnoble.com following a suggestion in a thread from the main forum.

Just wondering how is their service and do you get any duty charges? I notice that barnesandnoble has CANADA post shipping option. Does the set ship within Canada? Do they include Canadian Sales Tax? I also read somewhere online that they have an office located in Ontario. Anyone have confirmation on that as that would lead me to believe the set may be located at the Canadian wearhouse.

Thanks.

I do not know about duty charges as I am in the US, but their service is excellent as I have ordered from them many times over many years. I also have one of their discount cards so that makes it sweeter.

Atleast in the US, they currently have free UPS 3-day select shipping for purchases over $25 (you would qualify), and it has tracking as well. I have never had a problem with them shipping -- no missing items, damage or such. In fact, even if you select "ship all together" for free shipping, they may still ship it separately (because of different warehouses with the stock), and also items backordered or ships in several days, sometimes they will ship the in-stock, 1-day items and then the rest later - no extra charge.

Because I do know they ship from different warehouses (having place a single order and received multiple packages), IMHO being in Canada they would probably ship from the Canadian warehouse, provided it had what you order.

I highly recommend them.

Actually, ordering from B&N from Canada is pretty straightforward. There's no option for free shipping, there's no Canadian warehouse, but yes, you will pay GST with your invoice and avoid additional border-crossing charges. I believe that the products are shipped in bulk to Georgetown and broken into individual shipments and posted from within the country -- as a result, I've never paid customs/duty or handling. You should be fine.
