Which service do you think is better? I recently decided that online renting was the way to go and was wondering what others thought. I personaly thought Blockbuster Online for the following reasons:

1.) Slightly cheaper monthly subscription than Netflix.

2.) They add in 2 free instore rentals per month. Thought this would be good for those last minute "let's rent a movie" scenarios.

Just currious what other think!

Ive done both.

Pros and cons...

They both ship pretty fast.
Netflix has a bigger selection.
Blockbuster has the in-store coupons (and sometimes other coupons).
Blockbuster is a tad cheaper.
IMO, Netflix site is easier to browse and has some nice features.

Currently, I am using BB online for 13.99/mo for 3/dvds unlimited rentals. The past 2 dvds they sent had scratches and I couldnt watch them. One movie hasnt shown up yet. I contacted them after a week and they reshipped it.

I never had either of those problems with netflix.

SO, go with Netflix!!!

I'm think I might beginning to regret my BB online decision. A coworker just told me that Netflix has more distibution points (one in my own city) and therefore you can actually get your movies quicker. Not sure if I buy into that, but it has been a few days, and I haven't received my first BB movies just yet.

Anyone who'd set foot (virtual or otherwise) in a Blockbuster apparently doesn't remember how often and how hard they've tried to screw the DVD community. May Blockbuster fuck off and die.

I have got netflix and have been a member for 2 months. I think its great. I am getting a rough estimate of 10-15 discs per month, which aint that bad, might be more sometimes. They got a lot of tv shows on dvd, and you can rent the discs seperately, I think thats pretty cool..

I'll agree with every post here, especially the Blockbuster fucking off and dying one.

Netflix rocks.

Blockbuster has always looked for a way to screw someone. I would never give that sorry excuse for a business a penny out of my pocket.

Netflix is now taking on average 2 to 3 days to receive a movie when I send it to them, and they have a hub in the same city. I actually drop the movie off two blocks from the main post office, but I am going to start taking it to the actual post office they have the box at. Also, I'm getting confirmation e-mails from them saying that they have received the movie, but in my queue, it states it is still out. Last week there was a seven hour discrepancy from the time I received the e-mail to where it showed "received" in my queue. I called them and asked them what to do, because they would love if I quit. They don't make any money off of me. The service (along with their stock) has plummeted in the past two months. On the other hand, I despise Blockbuster, and will not give them $1 of my money. Netflix, for me, is much cheaper than going to a brick and morter and renting movies, even with the headaches.

I've started seeing a situation where Netflix is apparently receiving a movie but not showing it as checked in, but then they add an additional slot for the next movie in my queue.

So right now, I'm on the five at a time plan, but I have eight movies in the "At Home" section, with three that are shipping tomorrow deliniated with a + sign rather than a number.

It doesn't really affect me, but it's weird to see.

That weird thing was short-lived. Instead, they've now just removed the next three movies they had put in the "At Home" section as Shipping Tuesday and taken them off my queue completely. The three movies that I received emails saying were received at 9:52 this morning are still there in the 5 I'm listed as having out.

I guess that's one way to get through the queue. Just have Netflix remove them for you rather than sending them. It's certainly more efficient for them than sending them.

I've been using both over the winter so I can have lots of movies during the cold winter days ;-)

But going to drop Blockbuster soon. Have been happier with NF.

I wish they would come up with some better queue management tools. I've been playing with myflixer http://www.myflixer.com for NF so I can view pics and descripts but unfortunately wont let me reshuffle.

Preach on man. Not to sound like a dick, bust basically if you only like mainstream movies & watch what the trailers on TV tell you to, then Blockbuster is for you. But if you watch a lot of movies, & want the choice of a massive selection of older films, off-beat films be it foreign or indy, & a tremendous TV selection & don't mind spending a whopping $3 more a month. Then go for Netflix.

Blockbuster online sure seemed to have just about everything that Netflix has when I was a member of both. The stores may not have that much, but Blockbuster online has a very wide selection of the very movies you cite.

One of the reasons I tried the Blockbuster free trial in the first place was because Netflix didn't have a couple of movies I wanted (Man's Favorite Sport and The Specials) at the time while Blockbuster online did.

Plus, it doesn't seem like Blockbuster works quite as hard to prevent customers from receiving movies as Netflix does.

NF used to ship out my next movie the same day or very early the next day.. now for the last 3 weeks they recieve a movie at noon Monday & they don't seen my next one till 4pm Tuesday.....

Incredibly, I had 20 titles in my queue with Blockbuster and ALL of them had a wait. Every single one. I had a mix of new releases and older catalog titles and a few Criterion titles, so go figure. Needless to say, I dropped BB because they apparently don't have enough stock to get me a single DVD out of 20 requested titles.

Blockbuster online has serious problems. Rented two titles that arrived with the wrong disc. Called CS, they said they'd send the out again.....only to receive the SAME wrong disc. They insisted they would fix the problem after ANOTHER call.......and the same thing happened AGAIN! Why did I even try?? Morons!!!
