Price-matching new lower price at Amazon.com success.

I would just like to share that I was able to get a partial refund on a DVD I purchased at Amazon that has a new, lower price. I bought Shrek 2 in early December for $17.99, and now it's available for $14.99. I sent them a polite e-mail and they refunded my credit card $3.

Hope this helps people!

Good stuff. It's only $3, but it's the gesture that counts. And, when you think about it, that's $3 you can use on another dvd.

Amazon would often price adjust as long as the purchase is within 30 days.

Does Amazon price match if say DeepDiscountDvd has a lower price?

Amazon will not price match another store.

So I have a related question. I ordered an item a few months ago and it was placed on backorder, and just shipped this past weekend. When I go to the current product page, the price is 10 bucks cheaper now than when I first placed the order (but the product is still backordered). Will they price match their own current price?

Never hurts to ask. As long as the price is still the lower price, I'm sure they would. In order to protect yourself from having the price raised suddenly, I'd call on the phone and speak to someone they can issue the credit immediately and you'll be sure they're seeing the same item page online that you're seeing.

You should be able to price adjust as long as it's within their return policy. The 30 days return period starts when the item is shipped, not when you place the order. That's why you could preorder an item months ago and still could return/exchange it within 30 days of shipment.

Thanks for the replies, I sent an email to customer service and they took care of the difference. I was just afraid that they would make me return my order and place a new one, in which case I'd probably be stuck on backorder for ANOTHER two months.
