DeepDiscountDvd.Com Experience -- A Good One

Note: Reposted from the Dvd Bargains thread. (I figured some people that read this forum, and don't frequent the Bargains one, would want to read this).

UPDATE: Regarding my 2nd order using Bill Me Now.

A while ago I had posted that I still hadn't received my order. I placed my second order on the second-to-last day of the 20% off sale.

I noticed I never received a confirmation email. And after repeatedly checking my order status on ddd.com and seeing that it was still "in process", I decided to email customer service.

I didn't hear back from them.

I decided to exert patience, and I waited another week before I decided to call customer service. I waited on "hold" for about 13 minutes before I decided to hang up. I know they're probably busy, but I wasn't able to hold any longer than that given the time I called. I tried one more time calling them, about another week later, and same deal.

So I call again yesterday and decided to wait as long as I needed to. After being on hold for only 8 min. this time, I got a customer service specialist. I asked her why my order had not been shipped. I told her about "in process" status and how I used "bill me later." She looked it up and found that my order had been cancelled. Bill Me Later rejected me. -sheepish grin-

She then further explained that they sent me an email saying that I wasn't accepted for Bill Me Later. I had never received one, and I said to her. As a matter of fact, I told her, I never received a reply to my original email as to why my order hadn't shipped. I asked if I can get 20% off this order if I could just go ahead and pay with my credit card over the phone. She said she couldn't do that -- the sale was over, and they sent me a notice already, so I was disclosed of the situation, and all of that stuff.

I told her politely that it wasn't fair because had I received the email, I would've gladly paid with a credit card right away to get those prices. But since I never received that email, I was left in doubt and assumed everything was fine. After all, why would I send an email, call a few times, and check my order status only to find that it says "in process" all the time.

The customer service specials was soft spokent, but stern, as she mentioned that the sale was over. I told her I was counting on some of those as Christmas gifts (partial lie...they are Christmas presents, but to no one else other than myself), and I was relying on them. I then asked if there was anyone I can talk to about this. She promptly replied with "one moment, please."

I was feeling good. At this moment, I envisioned her getting out of her cubicle, with her headset on, and walking a couple of feet away to talk to a supervisor. "I'm going to get the 20%!" I thought to myself. And then, after being on hold for about 1 minute, she came back on the phone and told me...

that as a one-time only situation, she was able to give me the 20% off. I gave her my credit card info over the phone. She told me that since they're Christmas presents that I might want to upgrade so priority shipping. A couple of them were backordered and they would come in soon. If I chose priority shipping I'd get them by the 24th. Ahhhh! She had my hands tied behind my back. I guess it wasn't a big deal to spend $5 more. It probably canceled out the discount from one of my boxsets, so it was cool.

Anyway, I thanked her sincerely for working with me and she seemed happy that she could help. I just didn't want to come off as some guy trying to weasel out a deal. I wouldn't have done this had I known I got rejected a long time ago and then suddenly decide to work on getting the discount again. I was seriously left in doubt.

So, even though their customer service left me in the dark for a while, they get a big for working with me in a sticky situation. Thanks, DDD.

a happy, satisfied customer

Oh, and forgive any typos. It's friggin' late here (or early, depending on how you look at it, but I haven't slept yet, so..) on the west coast. I'm too tired to proofread.

Thought I would post my good experience here as well instead of starting a new thread. From the bargain thread: I received the completely incorrect box set to being off by the tune of about $350 dfifference in their favor. I was quite paranoid about the return system since the box set was a christmas present.

I called the customer service line and because it was a christmas present they reshipped the item next day even before they could possibly have received the item I had to send back! So, two thumbs up to DDD!

Ditto! I've been a customer since 2001 with many, many orders placed. ZERO problems. Excellent service.
