Yup. I even watch a fair amount of commentaries and extras.

As a strictly new release renter with a 7-at-a-time plan, I've never had any major problems. Of course, the key here is to be in hub city where your returns are processed the next morning.

As long as I have all my titles back in the Saturday return mail, I'm good to go for the following week. I've found the titles are allocated on Monday and ship on Tuesday (though I'm pleased that the titles I wanted this week were shipped out today [Monday]).

I actually would wish there was preferred treatment in terms of when the title is added to the queue. I tend to add titles the week they're released in theaters.

Netflix no longer claims "unlimited rentals". And it is quite clear by the wording in their T&C that heavy users will be throttled.

I'm no fan of Netflix, but ever since the class-action lawsuit, they are very forthcoming with their throttling strategy.

If you say so.

I go through at least 10 a week since I usually watch one at night and one in the morning in bed.

I guess that makes me some sort of superhero since I can do in one week what is pretty damn difficult for a mortal man to do in one month.

Yeah sure, after the lawsuit forced the issue they finally admitted it. Prior to that they just lied and blamed the post office. They were certainly NOT upfront about throttling when I used their service.

They most certainly do still claim "Unlimited rentals". My plan is called the "3 at-a-time (Unlimited) Plan". It's right at the top of my Account Page. They may clarify the throttling now in the fine print (post-lawsuit), but I'd hardly call that 'forthcoming'. When the name of the plan is Unlimited and the fine print describes limits, that still seems pretty intentionally deceptive to me.

I received an offer in the mail today for one free month trial.

I'm thinking about opening another account and just getting all of the VERY LONG WAIT and SHORT WAIT dvds for one month and then cancelling.

Well, I'm cancelling my Netflix next week and re-joining BB on a new credit card I got from Buy.com. I mailed out 3 disks on Monday, they received the one heavily scratched Wedding Crashers on Tuesday, and the other two discs on Thursday... that doesn't make any f***in sense. Then of course they send me ones at the bottom of my queue. Luckily, 1 more week of this crap, then I'm telling Netflix off in a nice email and I'll stick with BB until they start throttling me...

Recently, my wife accused me of being "addicted" to Netflix - and she was right. It was a game to me to see how many movies I could get in a month. I freaked out if one of us forgot to put a return in the mailbox before pickup time, and I was also renting movies that I was only marginally interested in seeing. I kept a little spreadsheet tracking my usage, and spent way too much time on it.

After coming to this realization, I have become much more relaxed about the service. I still turn movies around pretty quick, but I don't spend any energy stressing-out about it. I just leave the LONG WAITs at the top of my queue, and when they show up months later, its like a little surprise.

I wonder how many people out there are the same? Addicted to the service itself, but not necessarily to the movies?

I'm in it for the movies, but I know what you mean. Especially when I started getting throttled, I would go out of my way to turn movies around as fast as I could. Eventually I learned to relax and not sweat it if I wanted to take more time with a disc. After all, I wasn't exactly sticking it to Netflix - I was just making more work for myself. I still get through discs pretty quickly though.

Also experiencing slow service all of a sudden (the past couple of weeks). I usually turn in and receive about 6 DVDs a week, now it's more like 2-3 DVDs a week.

Other weirdness...

Received a DVD last week that was broken clean in half.

I mailed out a DVD 2 weeks ago, on a Sunday, and they didn't show it received yet. So I reported the DVD as LOST IN MAIL last Wednesday and then an hour later I get an email that essentially said "OH it's not lost, we have received it." which they then updated the queue.

I've had the 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN in my queue since it came out in early December, it's still a very long wait. I could have went to 20/20 Video down the street that week and rented it if I wanted to. I'll probably be able to pick it up for $9.99 somewhere in a couple of months.

So yeah, I've been thinking of downgrading the service until they get their act together... using NetFlix for catalog titles and get the new releases at 20/20 Video.

I work nights, so I'll sometimes watch one there. I only get about 4 hrs of sleep a day, and my girlfriend is sleeping most of the time, so I can't do much in our apt without waking her up. My only main hobby is going snowboarding. Once in a while we will "entertain", which usually involves dinner and a movie at our place.

With all that, it's not uncommon for me to go through 15 movies in a week. I have both Netflix and Hollywood's MVP, so I don't worry too much about the throttling.

LOL I'm addicted to the website. No idea why. It's even open right now. Stays open most of the time. I keep wanting to do those little two cents and keep checking back at the 'friend' comments - even though no one ever puts new ones up. Why do I keep doing this? No idea. Makes no sense. Time waster. RAM waster. But oh well.

One weird thing, if you make a list of recommended films (identical to the Amazon option of making guides and lists), it never mentions these lists or guides under your name in the friends page. Isn't that odd? How the heck will anyone who knows you be able to find your list then???

Article in yesterdays paper from the Associated press - San Francisco - Michael Liedke: tells of throttling and how they are justifying it. A company spokesman said "the company has no specific limit but a customer shouldn't expect 10,000 rentals a month" I tried Netflix on a recomendation of a friend and found them no better than BB. BB still gets me my rentals very quickly plus I get one in store rental per week. I average 5 per week including my in-store freebie.

For me the whole point of online renting is that I don't have to go to the store. I know I may be a little wierd that way, though. As heavy a renter as I am now, I rented almost nothing when I had to make an errand out of it - two errands, actually, since the movies have to be returned as well. I probably still have expired Blockbuster gift cards with cash left on them, because even for free it was too much trouble to make two trips to the store just to watch a movie, and one that I may no longer have time for by the time I got back.

Obviously, most people's mileage will vary.

I just cancelled my netflix for the 2nd time. The first time I cancelled was when they raised prices. I rejoined when they lowered them again. Now I'm sick of being limited to 10 rentals a month on the 3 at a time UNLIMITED plan. I used to average 13-15, but the last three months they have screwed me around enough to limit me to exactly 10 each month.

I'll probably rejoin with a new email address and quit when they start messing me about again...I can work the system if that is how they want to play the game
