QUESTION: Buying from Half.com (Re: Listings)
Okay. I am going to be contacting Ebay/Half in the next few days about a problem.
But a question first:
When you purchase something off of Half, does the purchased item go away from there site so other members cannot try and buy it?
For example say I buy ABC123 on dvd. Does the listing disappear from the site and information sent to the seller? OR does it stay on the site until the seller confirms order?
My problem:
I ordered Troma's Killer Condom for a friend from a seller on Half, and he cancelled the order. I left neutral feedback for him, stating "Cancelled order. Should not have an item listed if you don't have it."
Just the other day, that Half/Ebay member left me negative feedback stating "order placed before sold item could be removed from inventory"
I have no idea what that means by being removed from inventory, but in almost every instance on his feedback history, when someone gives him a negative or neutral feedback rating he gives them a negative feedback (and in every instance it was because of his faults: cancelling and order, taking too long to ship, etc). He has one stupid feeback response to one buyer which I will link with all the other links.
So back to my question above: can someone help me?
-------------------------------------------------
the ebayer's feedback (my feedback is on page one from 9/15/04)
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...d=highbid23517
my feedback and response to him (i meant to reference my feedback on his page as 9/15/04, but accidentally put 9/14/04)
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...&userid=plerbo
the retarded feedback response from this loser to another member (first feedback on the page dated Nov. 6, 2003. What an idiot.
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...&iid=-1&de=off
------------------------------------------------
I don't really mind a negative feeback as I do not sell and I buy using my credit card and no one is going to pass up money, but this dumbass has to be brought down a peg or two.
also how do you leave a follow-up feedback on the feedback you left for a member.

I think it's ridiculous that eBay/Half allows seller to retaliate against buyers that leave neg. feedback in this case, like you did. You did nothing wrong; it was completely the seller's problem.
You can leave follow-up feedback here:

You can also contact ebay to report feedback abuse. Since this appears to be a pattern by the seller, they may suspend his account.
Another trick is to wait until the absolute LAST hour/day you can leave feedback for someone (45, 60, or 90 days, can't remember) and leave negative feedback then. They often won't notice until after the deadline has passed and can't respond. This may or may not be ethical, but neither is retaliating to a neutral feedback with false negative feedback.

There was a website that tried to automate this and this is when eBay responded.

Just don't stop payment on your credit card, as I did with three separate con artists and three uniquely mutilated books that I purchased on Half.com over the space of about five years.
When the seller wouldn't give me my money back, silly me — I exercised my Federally Protected right to stop payment on (these three) charges, and because I dared to protect myself, Ebay will not respond/update/acknowledge any selling and/or buying activity I conduct on their site. I haven't been "banned" per se; it's just become impossible to work with a site that won't even email me a receipt.
Just be very careful with these people.

PEACH,
That sucks, hopefully everything turns out okay down the road.
Thankfully the guy cancelled the order and no money was exchanged. Even though he did that, he did deserve neutral feedback for not keeping his items up to date as others (I highly doubt Killer Condom is in such high demand that he sold it that same month not to mention "just before I ordered it") have had this happened to them by him.

The guy does sound like an asshole, and not very businesslike.
On Half.com, when a buy is made, the item is removed from the listings, and the seller gets an email. He has, I believe, 3 business days [maybe 5] to either Confirm or Cancel the order. If he doesn't respond, the order is automatically cancelled.
For him the Cancel the order, without an explanation, is totally uncalled for.
I have cancelled one order, ever, and I explained it--I sent the seller a very apologetic email, saying I was in the process of moving, and when I found the item they had ordered, it had been damaged in packing/unpacking/heat and I didn't want to sell them a defective item. I actually got a positive feedback from the seller [and of course returned the favor].
In your case, I think a neutral was not undeserved, but a negative from him is totally uncalled for. Like somehow you're not suppposed to place an order for something he doesn't have in stock, but has listed on Half?

The reason I left a neutral:
I should have read all of the guys feedback instead of just looking at the amount of negatives and postitives etc., yes, but when he cancelled I was going to let it go. But as I started to read all of his feedback I see that he has cancelled many orders. I wanted people to know that this person has done this before and it is uncalled for. If someone wants to sell something and place it on Half.com, they need to update their listings as they sell something out of Half.com.

I've done the same thing onk accident. Sold a a dvd to a guy at work, and wouldn't you know that same night someone bought it on half. (a dvd mind you that had been on there for a month)
I politely emailed the buyer and explained the situation, he was fine with it.
Neither of us left feedback. Negative feedback invites problems. Solve the problem privately not publicly. Especially if the other party already has feedback about the problem you had. There is enough info to make an informed purchase for others, why drag your account through the mud?

Yeah, I'm always tempted to leave a neutral when an item suddenly is no longer available, but the I just let it go since I always fear the retaliatory negative that will come. It's bullshit that you think your item is coming to you and then three days later you get a refund notification email.

And as I said before, I have been a member or Ebay since '99. I don't sell and never will. I haven't bought from Ebay in a long time and if I buy from Half, I am sure no one is going to pass up a straight sale. I don't think I'm dragging it through the mud.
