credit card safety online! any user problems?

I just had to freeze my bank account after losing hundreds in mysterious withdrawals in Romania over the weekend (I live in Connecticut USA btw, and barely leave the state let alone country). I'm posting here because I just bought DVDs via adultdvdmarketplace.com, from several vendors. One of the vendors delivered fine, but I'm wondering whether the remaining 2 discs are gonna show . But funny I would buy Tuesday and my bank account was raided Friday, after making no online purchases for over a month (excluding normal bill activity that happens monthly, for years with no trouble), right?
Anyone else have problems, please post and let's all be safe buying our DVDs.

Haven't had a problem yet.. knock on wood.

I always keep a close eye on my statement online - so far, no dubiuos charges. Before making a purchase I always check for it with the Better Business Bureau's search engine. If it comes up with valid customer responses, I feel safer shopping there; if it doesn't recognize the site, I shop elsewhere.

I agree that devynal has a point..but I would STRONGLY Recommend acquiring one of the Smart chip credit cards (Blue from Amex, Citibank, Capital One etc.) It's your best bet when purchasing online. I've used the Blue Card for years now without any problems (No annual fee!). Plus the card issuers are more vigilant in monitoring your card for fraudulent activity. Good Luck.

That's my 2 cents.....

It sounds like you were using a debit card instead of a credit card, right? You have much better protection when you use a credit card than a debit card.

Actually, that depends on the debit card. Following the DVDPacific fiasco, I had the money returned to my bank account within 36 hours (my bank has a zero liability policy).

an update

All 5 of my dvds arrived just like new, as promised. So it wasnt an individual vendor. I also don't think it was adultdvdmarketplace.com per se, they were just sleeping on the job securing their site. Unfortunately, they did ask for a PIN # upon purchase. D'oh!
pOpus - The card was my bankcard w a MC logo. I hate credit cards since I went broke maxing them out as a young idiot. So I havent had a credit card in years but I guess w safety online becoming such a rarity I guess having a smart ? card for online purchases would be smarter. One of my ex cards was CapOne (what's in your wallet? Not you anymore! ) ) My bank is cool about the situation, but I did have to go to the local PD and file a report (and get an earful from the detective)-they recommended I also file with the FBI fraud page, http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp. All in all, a lot of aggravation to save a buck on dvds
