I emailed [email protected] with a few questions:

What I asked:
The following was posted on DVDTalk.com's forum (Thursday, July 17): http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=370248

Can you please confirm if this is legit?

Can I use the code "summersale" for multiple orders with the same account?

Does the deal end one minute into June 25 (12:00 am) or right before June 25 ends (11:59 pm)? Also, what time zone is this based on (Pacific, Eastern, GMT)?

Let's say I order 20 items, 12 are in-stock and 8 are backordered. Will you wait until the 8 backordered DVD's arrive before shipping all 20 items, or will you ship the 12 in-stock items immediately?

Finally, some folks on DVDTalk.com say they've successfully placed orders containing pre-order items which applied the 20% discount. Can you confirm if pre-orders are infact allowed.
DDD's reply (a few hours later):
Yes the offer starting 06/18 is legitimate and is based on Central Standard Time.

All instock items will be shipped first. The items on back order will be shipped once they are in stock.

Some instructions to follow while ordering online:
* Customers will enter a one-use only promo code upon checkout.
* 20% applies to currently released DVDs only
* If a DVD is simply out of stock, it is included in the 20% off sale.
* NO PRE-ORDERS or NON-DVD PRODUCT (Excludes: pre-orders, accessories, games, and electronics)
* We reserve the right to limit quantities. We will not be allowing anyone to purchase more than 5 of any particular DVD.
* Discount not available on previously placed orders. Exception: Orders placed within 24 hours.
* The 20% off sale is an Internet promotion only sorry, no phone orders!

Looking forward to your orders!!!

Well it's still only 1:30AM Pacific time, so it could be traffic, but I'm guessing that their site crashed.

Yeah I thought of that... I was thinking that even at 1:30am on the west its pretty late.

Since Friday is the first full day of the sale I'm sure its going to be difficult to order, but I'm going to keep trying.

I'll post if the site comes back up.

Graveyard, exactly. For me, part insomnia, part desire to order before the rush and stuff goes out of stock. DVDTALKers are going to wake up to a pleasant Friday surprise.

WTF? I had the discount, then when I added a sixth title to my cart it disappeared and now it won't accept DVDTALK or SUMMERSALE!

Anybody else see higher prices today? For example, looks like overnight the price on the 1-disc Master and Commander went from $13.89 to $21.96. Looks like this may be an exact repeat of the winter sale, complete with price increases on some items to offset the discount (and then some!). Doesn't mean there aren't still plenty of ridiculously good deals, just pay attention to what you pick out.

the reason why they raise dthe price on it is because DVDEmpire is no longer offering it for $11.99 + S&H (which in my guess was $2.00) and that's why DDD.com had it for $13.89 so they could beat that price by 10 cents.

Any suggestions?
I was having the exact same problem last night and this morning. After deleting my cookies and refilling my cart about a dozen times, I was about ready to give up. I finally realized that I was only getting the error when a certain title was in the cart. I loaded up the cart minus that title and the order went through without a hitch. The DVD causing the problem was the Led Zepplin 2 disc set. It might be another title giving you the same fits. Hope this helps.

Sweet!

I was going to order In Living Color Season 1, but it looks like they raised the price on this one. It was like $24 and change and now it is $29 and change.

BTW, someone asked why you can't fill up your cart the day before and then put in the code on sale day. That's what I did and I had no problems.

You are right! In my case, I figured out that for whatever reason, whenever I put "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" in my cart, the discount for ALL of the cart would disappear. That is very odd, it is not a preorder OR out of stock, but for some reason, certain DVD titles will make the coupon code disappear.

Update on my situation from yesterday:

I ordered a DVD a few hours before the SUMMERSALE code was released, so I called to ask for a cancellation or a price adjust. They couldn't cancel, but they said they'd be able to adjust the price if I called back the next day (today). Well, I called back and they adjusted the price without a problem. I just got an e-mail confirmation of the price adjust and one before that with a shipping confirmation notice (pretty quick). I'm really happy that Geoff managed to get us another code (DVDTALK) because now I can go back and place a second order with more stuff.

Major props to DDD for their willingness to help their customers out. If I had missed the code by a couple of hours and they weren't willing to adjust the price for me, that would've been a major bummer. They handled my problem quickly and smoothly without any problems or fuss. These guys are the best.

Don't these codes always travel in groups of four? I wonder what the 4th one is....

I had a lot of trouble accessing the site this morning, but I eventually got in and placed a $280 order. Yeah!
It worked out to an extra discount of $68.28, and I upgraded to 2nd day shipping.

Is it possible to enter more than one code? If so, how? It's only allowing me to enter one, and when the cart refreshes to show the discount, the discount code box disappears.

Don't add 'The Alamo' (The John Wayne one) to your order. It will also invalidate the coupon.
