Circuit City, what do they know?

A few weeks ago Target had a bunch of the Fox Animated Season 1 stuff on sale (Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy). I'm sure we all remember that. Anyway, for some reason I decided to pricematch at Circuit City and get the additional 10%. I guess I just needed to painfully remind myself why I won't shop there.

Anyway, the guy at the register acted like I was a total pain in the arse for pricematching. As he typed the matching price in I asked him does the computer figure the additional 10%. He replied that I only get the 10% if I find it cheaper AFTER I buy it. I pointed out that their sign says "even after" meaning that it applies both before and after. He gets real snotty and thrusts my receipt at me.

Well, over the weekend I found my receipt and went to stick it back in the boxset (kids had the discs out and dropped the receipt). I noticed that the price on the receipt was a little cheaper than the price match. With a little figuring I think their computers apparently DO give the extra 10%!

Hehehe. What do their clerks know?

You're luckier than that. Since Target doesn't have a price match policy anymore most other retailers will not price match to Target.

Circuit City has went so down the tubes it's not even funny.

Rude service, people who have no clue what their doing, dirty, etc.

When a store makes Best Buy look good, there are problems.

Circuit City used to be good years ago.

Weird. I've never had that experience, and that sort of logic really doesn't follow. Why should Circuit City or Best Buy care if Target price matches? It's not a reciprocity agreement.

Must be a regional issue and/or a personnel issue.

The CC's in my area are far better than worst buy. I have had pleasant people at CC, price matches and returns without receipts with no problems. The worst buy people actually act like they are doing you a favor by just looking at you.

I'm thinking it's regional too. The Circuit City in my area has been going down the tubes for a while now also. I only buy stuff there if I can walk, take it off the shelf, pay, and walk right out. Usually it's a small miracle they'll have what I'm looking for. It's more convenient though for me to go there and Best Buy, since this CC location is only a couple miles from my house. I'm thinking there's a problem at the managment level at many of these stores.

Not sure why either, but the few retailers I've been too refuse to PM to Target. However, on occassion there is one or two employees who care about making the sale than following that direction.
