Best Buy won't always price match

The So Cal Fry's is running a special on the movies Hunted and Saturday Night Fever for $6.99 each in the Saturday paper. My local Best Buy store won't price match because the price is too low. I called the the toll free number to complain and they told me the same thing too. If the competitor's price is too low, they won't match it.

Never heard of that and I personally have never had a problem PM Fry's to Best Buy. However, they do have the right to refuse your business.

I sure wish the MODERATORS would post a sticky thread on the so called price matching fraud. I have yet to see a company with a pricematching policy follow that policy - EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Pricematching policy by these corporations is FRAUD, plain and simple. They state that you can pricematch - but in reality they can rescind the offer anytime they see fit.

Best Buy pricematched Star Wars Episode I to K-Mart's advertised price of $4.99. This was after Circuit City refused to pricematch.

Best Buy's policies are all screwed up. They should just rewrite them all, it would save them the trouble of having to make stuff up when they decide they don't want to hold up their end of the deal.

The Best Buy policy on the back of the receipt does not cover their price matching policy. The only thing it states about price matching is that the receipt is needed in order to price match.

That's true, but we were talking about the information on the back of the receipt.

True, but it is hard to give every customer one of those big signs every visit. Most would complain they can't fit the sign in their car.

Will BEST BUY refund the difference if an item I purchased from them, such as a television, goes on sale the following week?

I know their site mentions competitors but I wasn't sure if it applied to their own stores too. Thanks.

IIRC they will price match a "competitor's" ad of instock non-clearance/closeout price. They sometimes get loose with whom they consider a competitor, and they will want to call and verify if it is too low, but I have never heard because it is too low on a dvd that was not the big leader, they tried not price matching Toys R Us price of Harry Potter (9.99) using the cometitor line, but later said they would if the customer asked. Did you try another BB? Ask the employee in the movie area to pricematch, most of the time if you have the ad they will write it up w/o a second thought, especially if they are the young "non-corporate"(ie hate BB as much as most of us) type.

You're surprised by this? I've been to quite a few Best Buy stores, and I'm not surprised at all.

Actually, my job has probably way more policy and procedure than yours ever will, so to answer your question, no. However, you'd think any given Best Buy employee would know what the price matching policy is. That's like the 1st day of training.

Actually, I took the day off since I've worked so much in the past week. You know, I was reviewing policy and such so when someone asked me I'd know the answer.

Nope. You're wrong.

Day 1: Breathing with your mouth closed
Day 2: Deodorant and you!
Day 3: Price matching

No. I'm not the most pathetic. I'm like #487 on the list of 500. Hang out in Other for a while and you'll find a few more pathetic than I.

I never randomly insulted you. It was a calculated attack. I was lying in wait, and just when I had the perfect opportunity to attack, I did!

I don't hate Best Buy. I actually enjoyed the time I worked there, sans the high pressure to sell PSPs and PRPs.

I made much more than $7.50 / hour working there when I did. Probably because I had about as much sales experience as the entire media department combined.

I suggest that you go to:

Circuit City: They pretty much have a no hassle, price matching policy 364 days a year.

Wal-mart: Never had a problem with price matching. Go here first, if possible
