DDD. Sharing Credit Card info!! Warning
I have been a long time customer of Deep Discount DVD since I found out about them on this site a few years ago. But a couple days ago while going over my checking account I noticed a charge for $7 by Buyerassurance.com that I had no knowledge of.
After a little research on the internet I discovered that I inadvertanly gave DDD permission to hand over all my personal information including credit card # to Buyerassurance simply by filling out a survey after a purchase on DDD. Like most internet shoppers I've become accustomed to filling in my own information when I wish to purchase something, seeing a summary of the charges and clicking YES. However if you click yes on this link saying you'd like to fill out a survey you are giving DDD permission to hand over your info in return for a $7 referral fee from Buyerassurance. Fandango.com, 1800 flowers and Classmates.com are also affiliates in this referral program so be careful when purchasing!
I won't be purchasing from DDD again as a result of this practice. The worst part is that when I asked DDD to comment on this situation they replied thanks for your business, we're sorry you were dumb enough to fall for that.
Well that may be the case but I certainly didn't expect DDD to be a participant in this scheme.
See the following links for other victims' stories including at least one other person that was signed up after a DDD purchase.
