AVOID pre-ordering at Best Buy.com....

On Thursday (10/23) I preordered Hulk from Best Buy.com. I had $2 credits from McDonalds and had read that it would be $15.99. Although the site said $19.99 I knew they usually adjust for the special release price. Well I checked my account online and it said I was charged $19.99. I called them and since they said it shipped on Friday it was too late and they could not credit me. I was incensed. I said the dvd is not set to be released until Tuesday 10/28. He said it didn't matter and that the only thing I could do was to refuse it and reorder it at the lower price. I asked for a supervisor and they said they don't have one. But, they would put a claim in with the promotions department and get back to me in 2-3 days. I cannot believe this. It is not like this was an already released item and I missed a sale. The disc is not even released yet. I am so pissed. I order from them monthly and just ordered a computer. That if they don't rectify this I might refuse it.

You can return it to the store and pick it up at the cheaper price. I've done that a couple of times on pre-orders with them when someone else had it cheaper on release day (although they had always lowered their web site price to their own store price previously automatically)

I decided to call their headquarters and fight this. I asked for a someone above a CSR and was given a supervisor. At first she said she couldn't do anything and then she said she was going to send me a $5 gift card only usable in-store, not online. I told her that the nearest store was 45 minutes away. So after going to speak to someone she just credited my credit card. Something that should have been done from the beginning.

I still haven't gotten my Bond bonus disk, despite having to go thru the hoops.

And I haven't gotten my preorder Indiana Jones; not even a shipping notice...and they have it charged on my card.... So it's not lost in the mail, it's lost in their system!

So, I'm far less tempted to preorder there now.
