A little praise for Circuit City

My wife and I went to Circuit City yesterday to buy a Widscreen High Definition television. They had a deal going on where if you bought a HDTV, you got a free home stereo system (which was junk). I asked the salesman if I could take what the stereo system was worth and get a progressive scan DVD player, He said yes. After this experience, I will probably be shopping at Circuit City much more often. I ended up with a Panasonic 53in WS HDTV and a Panasonic PS DVD player.

I find that if you ask nicely, many people are receptive to swaps like this...

We do that quite often at CC, especially if the person says they already have a home theater system (or DVD, depending on what the special is). So unless you get an idiot manager, should be all good.

Now if they could only get enough new releases ON RELEASE DAY, I might shop there.

Yeah!! Circuit City never gets their Tuesday Releases on Tuesday. They just look at me funny when I ask where something is. I usually just tell them "thanks for the help, I'll get it at Best Buy."

I'll also give a little praise, especially since CC usually gets dumped on in these forums. I had bought a receiver and 29 days later saw it advertised 30% cheaper at another store. I went to CC and used their price match guarantee. No hassles at all. I was very pleased.

Overall, I find CC price competitive if they carry the item. CSR knowledge, however, can be very hit and miss. But, since its a discount store, I don't have high expectations for the CSR's and am always pleasently surprised when I get a good one.
