Price Drops at Amazon?

I've gotten two e-mails from Amazon tonight for both of the DVD prebooks I have with them, indicating the price has dropped on both items. In my case, it was the season two set of 24 and the first season of Smallville. Since these were the only DVDs I had prebooked with them, I'm wondering if this indicates an overall price drop on DVDs, or if I just got lucky on these two particular orders. With STL and trivia credit, I'm now getting Season Two of 24 for about $43 and Season One of Smallville for only $40. (Shipped!)

The same thing happened to me this evening on preorders for The X-Files Season Eight and the Walt Disney Treasures coming out in December. I also noticed that several items that haven't been released yet, but I have noted on my wish list, have lower prices. I hope they keep it up. The prices are beating Best Buy. With STL, it is really awesome.

I had several DVD orders receive price drops today. Looks like they changed the prices from 25% to 30% off on several preorders.

I got about 5 today - all saving me $1-$4.00 per order.

This is a model on how things should work. I did nothing, and they notified ME that they had lowered the price and fixed my order for me.

If only the others would do the same............

Hrmm... wish I could get some love on my smallville order. Oh well... I was pretty psyched about the price drop, too.

I was surprised when I received about 15 notices from them today. I thought they would be along the lines of "the release date has been delayed," or "please accept the price increase", etc. This is definitely a great direction for amazon!

Weird. I just went to my wish list of upcoming releases. Now some of the prices have increased. Discs that were available for $11.24 are now $12.73, $14.99 went up to $16.98, and $18.74 is now $21.21. These increases are all on cult or independent film titles. Other releases that are more mainstream/played in my local theaters (Finding Nemo, Down with Love, A Mighty Wind) have been reduced.

I got it for Ultimate Vacation box and 28 Days Later. A good thing is that they didn't adjust the share the love, so the discount is still based on the higher previous price.

my order always ships right before a price drop. example: if my order shipped today the drop would happen tomorrow.
