Web Site Issues Warning Of 'eBayers That Suck'

Man Got Rooked Buying Speakers Online

POSTED: 4:12 p.m. EST January 9, 2003

HILLSDALE, N.J. -- A New Jersey man who said he got rooked when he bought a pair of speakers on eBay is turning his static into positive noise.

Stephen Klink has created a Web site where others who believe they were cheated online can post their experiences. They name names, or at least screen names, and give details.

There is no charge for posting a complaint. But buyers and sellers who trade frequently on eBay pay $3 a month to appear on a list of "good eBayers."

The Paramus police officer hopes to pay for the site with banner ads some day.

An eBay spokesman says the company doesn't comment on such Web sites. But he says customers can seek redress through eBay features including a discussion board and customer support team.

We'll see if this serves any good!

All it's going to take is one falsely-accused person and a lawsuit before this gets shut down, unfortunately.

Someone should put THAT site up as 'HTML Design That Sucks'. It's worse than AICN in my opinion.

The bad thing about sites like this is that there is no way to prove or verify anything. Anyone can go on there and disparage any eBay user, legitimitaly or not.

Yep, most of those complaints look to be from bonified NOOBIE eBayers. Just as long as my name doesn't show up from one of my moron customers.

Several people have lodged complaints against this website during the past ten months for several reasons, most of which fall into the category of libel, breach of trust, and unauthorized publication of personally-identifiable information. As of yesterday, their url directs people to their book which is on sale at Amazon.com.

Brothers Klink (the owners of the site) trashed not only sellers buy buyers as well. One of the moderator's involvement constituted a conflict of interests; he represented himself as an eBay Power Seller.

There were a few threats of lawsuits from angry discussion participants posted on the website during the past year. How many of the threats actually made it to court is anyone's guess, but the owners received a very clear message: Stop the BS or start dancing to the music. Messrs Klink have stopped the BS and shut that website down. They may be seen dancing some day.
