Do DDD & Bestbuy.com charge for preorders when they ship or when you order?

Do DDD & Bestbuy.com charge for preorders when they ship or when you order?
I just placed preorders with both of them and am not sure what the billing policies are.

Actually the policy of most internet stores is to charge when an item ships or is about to be shipped. I personally never had a U.S. site charge me until shipment. But if you are ordering from a Canadian site you might be charged when the order is placed.

I believe it's either state [most states] or federal law that says in most cases, for most items, [your average retail website] the site can't charge the card until the product ships.

DDD, in my personal experience doesn't charge my cc untill the item in question is shipped. Bestbuy.com on the other hand keeps a charge pending until the item ships. It's annoying because the charge doesn't appear on my account (online) but the amount has been deducted, when the item is ready to be shipped an additional charge is made and two days later the initial (pending) charge is credited back to my cc.
