Blockbuster rewards question
Hola, so I went to Blockbuster today with my dad. He decided to rent a few dvds and then they asked him if he wanted to pay his 9.95 fee for membership now. He passed, thinking that he would never come back again since Blockbuster suddenly wants to charge for membership. He was really mad and he felt that they may have lost him as a customer.
Feeling perplexed, I looked on the Blockbuster site and they mention the 9.95 fee associated with the Blockbuster rewards card. My dad only has the old card membership (the non pay per year type) and so I am wondering if Blockbuster suddenly decided to make people pay an aditional fee to rent their films!? This strikes me as totally dumb on their part, especially since Hollywood doesn't charge any membership fees. So, does anyone know about this? Is there anything my dad can say to keep his regular, old, non yearly payment account? Plus, he's not at all interested in that rewards crap since he only occasionally rents movies.

Buenos tardes, this is just a guess, but I don't believe that any U.S. Blockbuster stores charge for membership, and the rewards program is optional.
Since he only occasionally rents movies and is not interested in the rewards program I don't see what is stopping him from renting with no membership fee.

That does sound weird. The only thing I can think of is that your dad had a Rewards card previously and it is now time to renew.
Is he on someone else's membership that has the Rewards card?
These are my only two guesses because there is no charge for a regular membership.
