Online DVD store challenge
Post removed.
Thanks for threadcrapping (by "Senior" and "Platinum Edition" members no less), I didn't realize how anal people are here. If you weren't interested in the topic you could simply ignore the thread.
It was just for fun. But apparently people who take the time to threadcrap take themselves and everything and everyone else too seriously.

That might be your criteria for the "best online store" but for many of us, timely delivery is only part of the story (or not at all).
For me, if I save a substantial amount of money I don't care much if it arrives a few weeks late. I've got plenty to watch/do in the meantime.

Can someone say "threadcrapper"?
Can someone say "threadcrapper"?
Uhm, you're taking this a bit too seriously, Eric F. Obviously "a good deal" (a good price) is part of the buying decision. This thread tries to answer the question AFTER the buying process is complete: okay, I got a great deal . . . now how good will their customer service be (order processing, handling, shipping)?
If anyone wants to know what the best price is they can use dvdpricesearch.com for example.
This is about service not price.

So be more specific in your thread title. I'm not trying to crap on the thread, you just state that you're looking for the best store, and on-time or early delivery is a very limited way of measuring things.
Best service is a different story altogether.

It also depends on where you live. I can get quick shipping from DVD Empire using their media mail option since I live in PA. Obviously, your order might take longer since you are further away.
Also, one good order does not customer service make. I personally never had a problem with DVD.com/DVDExpress.com ... does that mean I'm going to place another order with them in the near future? Nope. Too many horror stories and news articles point to bad service.
You have good intentions but there are too many variables to be able to rate a store based on one or two orders.

Doesn't this also depend largely on the carrier (UPS vs. Fedex vs. USPS) and not necessarily so much on the store? Also, to really measure customer service, I think it depends on a lot of other things... assuming a package is lost or damaged, I would think you'd want to consider the ease of getting someone on the phone or getting a response via e-mail, and then how cooperative they are in refunding/replacing merchandise. Sorry to threadcrap, but it just seems like there are SO many other variables that would need to be taken into account, it's hard to turn it into an experiment.

They may not be shipped from the same state, so even if one of them gets it out first, it may not get to you first. It's not a fair shipping comparison.

This can only lead to more misunderstandings, so I'm closing this thread.
Since I didn't see what was posted, I'm cautious about requesting that you post it again. I'll make you a deal, then:
Read the threads on the first 3 pages of this forum -- you may have to show more than the last 5 days' worth of posts to do this. If you feel like your topic belongs here after getting a feel for this forum, post it again.
