They usually enclose a return mailing label with replacement order but I didn't get one this time. I called them and requested another one to be sent out to me. After 3-4 weeks I still didn't recieve one. Then I received a reminder email telling me to return the item within 10 days or else they would charge the full price on my CC. In the email they said if I did not receive a mailing label, I would just mail the item back and they would refund the shipping cost. I sent it (a large DVD boxset) back via Prioity Mail and they have received it (as I saw the return section in the order webpage) but no refund information. I rushed them an email and no response yet.

How do they normally refund return shipping cost?

You can also print out a return label, tape it to the box, and ship it back.

Once Amazon receives the item, it usually takes around a month for the refund. I just got a refund for a rc toy that didn't include a battery - which normally is included with rc toys. Also, the description on the web site did not indicate the battery is not included.

I wonder if we should gather a petition of names together and send it over to their customer service dept.

I had yet another order screwed up. This is not some computer programming glitch - This is on purpose. It has been going on for quite some time now and I'm pissed that I end up spending 30 minutes with customer support on the phone for EVERY single order!

If you care about excellent service and support try Amazon.ca. They respond to emails within 24hrs and they actually encouraged me to call when they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my order.

Not only was my overcharge corrected before shipping, but they gave me a free $10 promo coupon to boot. Nice.:)

Since Amazon.ca and Amazon.com run on the same accounting system, they must be able to adjust prices before they ship but they just refuse to do this. Two of my outstanding orders at .com are being double-charged for shipping (this is what happens when you combine STL+Promo+Free Ship), yet, after many emails, they refuse to remove the overcharge from either order untill after they charge my card.

How legal is this? If they know there is a problem (ie: overcharge) doesn't it behoove them to fix it before they run your card?

I actually cancelled all my outstanding orders with amazon after talking to a rep who told me that he could not do anything about the orders that showed I was going to get overcharged till i in fact did :(

so I was walking away from Amazon then the buy two get one free promo for ps2 games appeared.

I figured why not. only one discount so they can not screw that up :(

well they shipped one game and now my new total show that I owe over $156 dollars -eek-

It seems that they shipped my first game with the correct price but now my order has a -- in front of the promo spot and are adding the 49.99 dollars to my remaining games :(

Boy do I hate Amazon right now :(

Not sure if I should just cancel the remaining games or what. this really sucks.

Are they ever going to fix this problem??!!

Their accounting system sucks a big time recently. It always drops my promotional certificate when the order ships, and messes up all the figures when a partial order ships. But then when I look at my CC statements, the charge amounts have been correct so far (fingers crossed).

My advice is to look carefully at the Paid By VISA amount and make sure the charge amount is what you expected. Don't attempt to tally the individual figures because most likely they won't add up.

Seeker 10-26-02 12:53 PM

The only figures that matter are: PAID BY CC AMOUNT:

Otherwise, the programmers at Amazon don't know how to add.

One way I use that often fixes partial shipments:

go change ship all at once to ship each immediately then back to ship all at once - strangely enough it often fixes the addition if one item has partially shipped. (don't ask me why)

Wouldn't that drop any expired promotional GC used in the order?

Eric F 10-26-02 11:50 PM

You have the possibility of losing a lower price if the item's price was raised too.

BTW, do not try to combine items at Amazon.Ca right now. You have to ask for it specifically, and the CSRs drop your promos, so it screws up the order. They also tack on new shipping charges as well. That's where all my problems were happening.

At least Amazon.ca is nice enough to fix their mistakes.

absolutely - don't do this if the promotional GC has expired.

Then again, if the promotional GC was USED in the partial shipment, then it is ok again, since it is "already gone" for the partial shipment.

Also don't do this if the remaining items to be shipped has dropped below $25 - you'd lose the free shipping for the remainder.

It's all a matter of walking carefully through the landmines.

I am tired of fighting to get credits from them.

Seeker 10-27-02 11:39 AM

It looks like your shipping charges went up.

Hmm - my suggestion might only work for super saver shipping - because it looks like now they are charging you the "initial" shipping charge again vs. just 99 cents each...

It seems like they'd remember that they've already charged you the initial shipping on the partially shipped item, but they must not.

whereas with super saver shipping it goes "back" to free.

Sigh - Amazon has indeed become a pain. I also have had to call on many orders lately to get them to "fix" it.

Yeah. I canceled the remaining item since one moved right into ready to ship after I changed the order back to ship all at once.

I just am going to stay away from amazon until they fix the computer system.

except for misprices since I am upset not crazy :)
