I'm happy to help. If there's anything I can do, let me know. And I'm open to criticism (not too harsh please) regarding the site, so lay it on me.

I checked dvdpricesearch this morning and discovered that HMN has the limited tin of Maniac for $11.59. This was a title that I've wanted for a long time, so I skedaddled over to HMN to buy this puppy. I add it to my cart for $11.59 and go through the new customer registration process. Then I go to checkout and the price has been jacked up to $19.99. I emptied my cart and tried to reload it and indeed the price is now $19.99. I didn't place the order because I can score this title at BestBuy for around $20. I must say that I'm not too happy that they raised the price after you have already added it to your cart for a lower price. Now I'll probably be spammed by them and I didn't even get to place my order.

The price was apparently changed on the product while you had it in your cart. Chances are the price will drop though. Probably to around $17.50. Because we get such an odd array of titles for which we don't know the market value (or even the list price), there are safeguards in place that modify prices according to sales volume. If a title has a runout, then the price scoots up (gives up time to research it) to slow sales, then it will likely fall again until sales pickup.

At least on our site, adding something to your cart does not secure it for you at that price, you have to place the order for the item for the sale to be recorded at that price.

We do email our customers occassionally, but if you have selected "NO" to receiving our email, then you will not get anything other than order ship notifications. And we do not sell any of our lists.

Received How to get Ahead in Advertising CC today (Monday). Pretty good mail service since I ordered it on Friday afternoon or I was just lucky for once.

Well since you asked...

It is a bit frustrating that I can't seem to look up my orders. The page seems to keep timing out.

It also seems to be next to impossible to get a good listing of DVDs at the current prices. Many times only the "like new" price, when I'd prefer to see all available pricing without having to click through, especially given the site's overall slow performance.

Speaking of which, the performance in general (and specifically on invoice lookup and searches) is just horrible.

Well you did ask

Understood. As I mentioned before though there is a note regarding this on the site, but it is being worked on.

Well, to be honest, I don't think it makes sense to show (up to) six different prices for every product in a list or a search result page. So we show only the brand new price (which is the highest).

Agreed. We've apparently become very popular. But before I throw more hardware at it, we're revising some queries, etc... Will be better soon. The invoice thing is its own problem, however... Oh, and on the searches. If you restrict your search to one category, it is MUCH faster.

Thanks for the comments!

While that might be true, when I look at titles it appears as though there is only usually one and sometimes 2 prices listed. However, many times the one that is available for sale is a used version at a price below the new version. When I am searching for items to buy, I'd like to be able to know this without having to click through to each title. It's just a convenience thing.

I've done my searches with only one category and it still takes some time. That said, performance today was certainly much better than yesterday. I think your approach to solving the performance issue is sound.

Thanks for the response.

Some tiltes have up to all six conditions shown. For example, Sleepy Hollow shows 4 conditions. However, I had to make an adjustment for something else, so I can show an icon when New is available for product lists and searches. I think that will help you...

Thanks. I'm working on it. I'm working on the invoice function now actually. On the hardware side, I bought a large lot of servers on auction today. Wanna buy one?

Found these titles for 11.59 each at hitmenow. All listed as new, sealed. At first I was not going to get the Beastie Boys CC but it a CC and it does sound interesting from what I have read about it. It was listed as only 1 in-stock so there is a good chance I will not get it anyways.

Teenage Gang Debs/ Teen-Age Strangler: Special Edition

Aladdin's Magic Lamp

Lost World (Special Edition/ Image/ 1925)

Beastie Boys: DVD Video Anthology: Special Edition: Criterion Collection

They also had some other interesting titles like Color Me Red, Fantastic Night and SHE.

Just wanted to toss in my two cents about this store. Received a recent order quickly and items were in great shape. Keep up the good work!

I was starting to wonder since I placed an order yesterday and as of today their in-stock #'s for the items I ordered have not changed and no email yet and their Invoice thing seems to be gone, not functional or missing. I know I clicked on something before and it took along time to come up but I cant find that now.

I removed the Invoice function for now since it was not working properly (I check the log and the invoice processes were running up to 3 hours!!).

I am actually concerned about the Beastie Boys DVD because we received way more orders for it than we have in stock, but the in-stock number did not change. I'm looking at it now.

You will not receive an email until your order ships (or is cancelled). But I'm changing that too...

Do you cancel the whole order if one of the items is out-of-stock or just that item?

Just wanted to give you a cudos. I just received my Ultraviolet and Maceo Parker DVDs for $23 shipped. The Maceo Parker DVD is a bootleg btw, and was recalled. My fault for not doing a little research first.

Only took 6days to get. I'll be ordering from you again to be sure.

Thanks. Can you give me a bit more info on the Maceo Parker title? I'm at our warehouse in Memphis for the next couple days and can check it out in person.

I actually noticed someone posting about the Maceo disc on Amazon's reviews.

If you check out Maceo's website he says it's a bootleg himself.

I haven't looked at the disc to see the quality of it myself yet. After I take a look at it I'll post back.
