Nextcard Users: Beware

I know this is not a hot deal, but just a heads up for all nextcard/amazon users. Nextcard is in the sh!ts and may be bought out or worse yet become another dot.com bomb. It's stock price is next to nil and becomes a possible to get delisted. I'm not sure how Amazon will handle the situation with the GC rewards if worse comes to worse. I guess it's time for me to cash out while I still can.

Yikes, does not sound good. If they go I will miss my GCs! I just requested a balance transfer to my Mastercard anyway. Lower rate!

Let's hope whoever buys them continues the program...

Thanks for the heads up. Seems like a perfect time for them to make that move where the points are only worth half (like new cardholders are getting). I hope not though!

Needless to say, I just cashed out $25.

If Nextcard bites the dust:
do the $25 amazon gc's that I purchased with Nextcard points become worthless if I haven't redeemed them at Amazon yet

I have a bunch of gc codes from Nextcard, but I haven't entered them into Amazon's system yet because I'm waiting to buy a big item.

You can add the GC's into your account without having to purchase anything. Just add the GC's code to your account when checking out, but just don't finalize your checkout

I don't have the Nextcard but I take that the GCs earned are the non-promo ones. Then you can add them to your account with this page without faking the checkout:

It really doesn't matter. If NextCard goes under, you'll still have your codes if you kept them. Once they issue the codes, it's not a problem.

This link lets me get into the site (Amazon Nextcard site)

https://my.nextcard.com/login.asp?aff=az

Haven't had problems getting there all week. I look at my account every day.

Just a heads up -

NextCard didn't post my points for October. Had to e-mail customer service. They came up as 'courtesy points' (?) but they fixed it within 24 hours.

They're supposed to appear a week or so after you receive your statement... so you might want to peek into your account if you don't do so regularly.

I agree with all the positives - it's a nice card... hope it doesn't bomb out. For Amazon purchases, using good coupon fu, it makes for some pretty decent deals.

Question - do purchases at Amazon UK ring up triple points too? Anyone know? thx

This is a pretty bad piece of news for me, when I read about it on halloween or whenever it was that it happened. I had stock in the company, and it dropped 80+% in one day, ruining my nest egg. I hear there is a class action lawsuit against them for us shareholders, I wonder if it's worth suing them?

I owe nextcard money on my card, I wonder if I don't have to pay them back if they go under? Just kidding. That's a pretty boneheaded move they pulled, writing off normal losses as fraud losses...
