Are you getting an error message that basically says "we are sorry but there is an error....resubmit you email and password and if you continue to receive this error contact customer service" when you check out?

If that is the error message that you recieved then I can tell you what to do since it happened to me on Monday. I called Amazon CS and was told that what you should try to do first is to use Amazon's "Standard Server" The link is located at the bottom of the page. Submit your info and see if that allows you to checkout. It worked for me. Temporaily anyway. I was told that the error occured because I was trying to checkout while the server was being updated.

Well, I wanted to order a few more dvds today ( a couple of days after I encountered the 1st error message and was shown how to solve it) and when I tried the "Secure Server" at the checkout I got the same error message so I did what I had done a couple of days ago. Going to the standard server and trying to check out that way but I again received the error message. I was fustrated so I called Amazon and spoke to an order specialist. She tried to checkout for me but she too received the error message so she said that she'd contact tech support because she couldn't do anthing to change but tech support could correct the problem within a couple of days. I told her that I had a problem because I really needed to place the order soon because one of my STL discounts was going to expire in 5 hours. She said that since she couldn't place the order that she would give me a promo gc to cover the STL discounts that I would use.

And I just checked my account few minutes ago and it looks like the problem was corrected today. I didn't actually place the order yet but I was able to get past the error message when trying to checkout. And she did say that this has happened to at least one other customer as well.

So here is what I suggest you might want to try.
Try signing in using the standard server instead of the secure server.
If that doesn't work and you keep getting an error message contact Amazon and speak or write to an order specialist and she will send the info to the tech support so that they can fix it.

I contacted Amazon around 6:30pm and it was solved by 4am. It may have been solved earlier but this is the first time that I have tried to checkout since I recieved the error message. The correction didn't take very long, IMHO.

Good Luck! And I hope that you can this problem solved as quickly as I was.

I don't think that this error occurs to everyone. If what I was told by an Amazon CS is correct then it only applies to people who tried to check out when the system was being upgraded.

mark_d_drake, post and let us know if it worked for you.

Hello guys,

As of now October 23rd, 5:20 pm, I still can't login to my Amazon.com account. It said "There were errors with your submission. The e-mail address and password you entered did not match any accounts in our file. Please try again."

It's been this way for about an hour now. I tried to use the standard server, but still no luck. It looks like Amazon doesn't have any record about my account at all. It even doesn't recognize my email address. bleh...

Are you guys having the same error message as the one I keep getting?

Thanks.

mcmlxxv: By any chance, did take advantage of the PS2 game deal and have multiple accounts there? Not saying you did this but that's what I heard happen to a few users from another forum and thought maybe this could be a possibility. Amazon cancelled their accounts.

Otherwise, it could be a server issue and if the above doesn't apply, I would call CS.

Nope, works ok for me. I was able to logon and check my account that has three PS2 games on preorder, didn't see any problems

Hey Tenjin,

Well, I have 2 amazon accounts.
I didn't buy any PS2. I pre-ordered a Trigun DVD set and order an alarm clock using a $10 off $75 coupon yesterday . And this morning, with another account, I preordered Cowboy Bebop boxset using the same coupon.

My alarm clock has been charged and shipped to me today while the Trigun is still a pre-order. What's gonna happen with my Trigun order?

Do you think my accounts got cancelled because I have 2 accounts at amazon?

TIA.

mcmlxxv: Unfortunately, with Amazon, although I doubt having 2 accounts is the reason why, you just never know There have been several people here who legitimately used coupons along with STL and they got their account cancelled.

Who knows, maybe their server upgrade now puts a flag on accounts in the same name or cc# using the same coupon.

Btw, why order the boxset from Amazon (with their lousy 10% disc when you can get it from CDNOW.COM for $118.99 (30% off msrp plus another 15% disc and even cheaper if you do the GiftCertificates thing?). At Amazon, even if you factor in STL and the $10 coupon, it's still $152. Well, unless you have GCs to burn, then I understand.

Hello Tenjin,

I know Amazon.com's prices are higher than other etailers, but I've been so happy buying stuff from Amazon.com. They ship items fast.

But I think both my Amazon.com accounts have been cancelled. I still can't sign in, and Amazon keeps telling me they couldn't find my email address in their record. So I guess I need to find other retailers to buy my DVDs. ^_^

Anyway, I check out CDnow.com like you said, indeed they give 30% off the retail price for preorders. But where can I find the other 15% you told me? Is it a coupon? I'd appreciate it if you can tell me how to get the additional 15% off for CDnow.com.

Yup, I'm gonna get both Trigun and Bebop boxsets from CDnow.com. In fact I'm gonna save a pretty good amount of money buying them from CDnow instead of Amazon.

Cool. Actually, I shouldn't be the one to talk about Amazon since I still order most of my DVDs from them (even with the fact I get charged tax) only because of GCs I still have left over.

Btw, if you're going to make large purchases such as those from CDNow, you may want to check out the Giftcertificates.com thread ($10 off 50 or the SuperCertificates give $100 get 25) and see if that works for you. Hope everything turns out okay in the end.
