I saw it at the store the other day. I almost bought it, nice to see a War movie that's not about americans, hey studios, you know, we can handle movies which have other countries in them! Over in the UK they got Pearl Harbor, and that made some money there... so it's kind of insulting studios think we can't handel movies about other countries in the war. I mean, mathmatically, there were other countires in that war a lot longer, so shouldn't they have at least as mny stories, if not more? Stupid studios, catering always to the lowest common denominator. "I aint watchin no movie about some Russians, they commie bastards, and we faught them in the war or somethin didn't we?"

I doubt it's laziness. Here are a few examples of what I mean :

1) You pay for fare if you don't want to drive so far for it, plus you pay taxes

2) You see this swollen dude with 26 dvd titles in his arms, and he decides which ones to put back, while he is first on line and you're behind him!

3) People are everywhere, you hear comments like "Hey, where is Star Wars?" "I think they ran out of E.T. shucks!"

4) You see joesixpack doing the cabagge patch because he thinks he struck lotto because Koch Releasing released Puppet Master Boxset in fullframe, even though that is the way the films were OAR created.

Must be some kind of system error ???

I would give them a call and have your order reinstated. If for any reason it doesn't work out, ask them to issue a new GC in the same amount as the expired one, since it was no fault of yours.

Or forget the order but ask for a new GC. Then go down to BB or CC and get yourself a copy at $17.99

I received my copy from Amazon today and it was a mess. They shipped it with five other DVD's in a box with no shrink wrapping! "Enemy at the Gates" was all scratched as it's case was, shall we say, not in the best of shape.

They're sending a new one on Monday. I should have bought it at Best Buy.

By the way: I can't believe the other DVD's in this order were OK.

Are you talking about the DVDs themselves not being factory shrink wrapped, or there was not plastic that holds the DVDs firmly to a cardboard inside the box?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They were not attached to or protected by any plastic that holds the DVDs firmly to the cardboard. In fact, there was no cardboard or anything. Just the DVDs thrown into the box.

Not everyone has a Best Buy within reasonable driving distance.

I'd have to drive for an hour to get to a best buy. That's about 1/3 a tank of gas(@$4.50), and 3 hours total of my time(once I get through town, in the store, fight the lines, and out of town again). Way more than almost any dvd is worth. Plus, even though we have a Circuit City, they won't price match the Best Buy because it is over 40 miles away. Consequently, I don't shop at CC, usually don't have time to drive to BB, and find that it is simply easier to shop online when I'm not in a hurry.

I got this exact message from Amazon and my $20 off $100 promo that I used was eliminated. I called CS right away and they told me that there where two different versions up for pre-order, one version was defective. She Easily added it back into my order and added $20 credit back onto it. Call them, see what happens.

Same thing happen to my copy of "Enemy of the Gates" that was shipped from Amazon.com. All the tabs that hold the dvd were broken off and the disc scratched to hell. Had to call for a replacement also. They don't shrinkwrap the dvds to the box anymore. They are going down hill fast.

I find this to be true only some of the time. Usually Best Buy runs fabulous sales on new releases. I picked up the new unrated version of American Pie for 17.99. That was the cheapest I had seen by far. I have also come across a couple of huge deals at Sam's Club. I saw the Anchor Bay releases of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness shrinkwrapped in the same package (new) for 19.99. They retail for that individually. So..... some over-the-counter deals are very hard to beat.

Ok, here is the reply from Amazon after sending two complain mails.

---------------------------------------------------
Dear xxxxx,

Thanks for contacting us at Amazon.com.

Please accept our apologies for this situation. I know that you have
experienced unnecessary frustration, and I am truly sorry about your
ordeal. "Enemy at the Gates" is indeed a high demand DVD. We were not able
to fulfill your order for this item due to the unexpected demand.

We do appreciate your business, and would like to give you a $10.00
promotional certificate, for use toward your next Amazon.com order. When
you redeem your promotional certificate, please be sure to use the
shopping cart rather than ordering via 1-Click.

You will find all of the details below. Simply print this certificate
or save the message on your hard drive for future reference.

Please let us know if you have any further questions, and thank you
again for shopping at Amazon.com.

Best regards,

---------------------------------------------------

I hate thess kind of stupid mistakes but have to say that I love their CS when my mails are replied by an 'educated' representative. Most of the time, however, I get pre-formatted reply mail which I don't give a sh*t. I wrote two time to them because the first reply from them was a pre-formatted reply.

Glad that I got my coupon back.

FYI: I received my replacement disk to "Enemy at the Gates" today. This time it arrived in good shape.

By the way: I have found this DVD to be quite hard to remove from the case. Am I alone in this?

My copy was quite hard to remove from the case also. I got both Emeny at the Gates and 15 Minutes with Free Shipping and $5.00 coupon. Arrived in three days via UPS in excellent shape.
