Will Blockbuster video..........

Have any of you all ever gotten a video rental store like Blockbuster to sell you a DVD that they use for rental . Because i was in one tonight and they had 2 copies of the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory OOP on the shelves . And i would love to get this movie to add to my collection but it seems like they wont do it . I asked one of the people working and he said they might but only some titles are for sale and that was the end of the conversation because they were slammed with people.

I asked this question too, because my local Blockbuster has Silence of the Lambs CC, 400 Blows CC, Sid and Nancy CC, and Robocop CC. I might as well just "lose" them and steal the case.

Rent one, then tell them you lost it... see what they are gonna charge you for it. Will probably be MSRP for the release.

If it's some outrageous amount, suddenly find it again.

They'll only charge MSRP... If that, due to the age of the disc, retailers don't know sh*t about OOP value. And if you "lose" it before it's due... No late fees! Hollywood Video - Boylston St. Boston has OOP Little Shop Of Horrors w/the recalled ending. Also all the OOP Criterions. They pretty much have the most OOP titles I've seen.

My local DVD Rental store had Spinal Tap CC for rental when it was going for $120 on ebay. I rented it and decided I liked it, but I just couldn't bring myself to "lose" it and pay MSRP for it. I would have felt too guilty. I did like the disc, so ultimately I just got it at a decent price on ebay.

About 2 months later, it was no longer on the rental shelves. But I feel I must have accrued some good Karma for that one.
