Stay away from entertainme.com!

I knew I should've paid a little more to buy from an established source! I (tried to) purchase the X-Files Season One Box Set from them around 7/15. I registered with their site to get the $5 coupon, and I received a confirmation email for that, but I never received one for placing the order. On 7/19, my credit card was charged $15.62 (the hell?). I have a hard time believing that they didn't receive my order because they sure did receive my CC number! I sent them emails on 8/2 and 8/5 inquiring about this, but they haven't bothered to reply. This is SO frustrating!

That sucks to here, but why dont you call them? Also, it appears they have a live chat with customer service. I would try either way, you never know you might accomplish something those routes.

I chatted with a CSR there; she said that the order was "pre-authorized" but it never went through because they didn't have any credit card information. She INSISTED that there was no way my credit card was charged, which I find pretty funny since I am looking at my bank statement right now and it very clearly has a $15.62 charge from entertainme.com on 7/19. Very frustrating.

EntertainMe.com

Please send your details directly to me at [email protected] and I'll find our what is going on here. Obviously some mistake has been made and I'll get to the bottom of it for you.

Thanks for your co-operation.

After our investigation, it is clear to us that the charges did not come from EntertainMe.com, so please ask your bank to cancel the $15.62.

It really is unfortunate that I can't "rescind the 'Stay Away From EntertainMe.com' post." isn't it?

The fact remains, I placed an order through your website. Somehow, my credit card information "mysteriously" disappeared from that order. And then my credit card was charged $15.62 from a source which my bank lists as "entertainme.com" even though it "wasn't really you."

...And that is all you leave me with. As it stands, I am completely dissatisfied with my order, and I will continue to share my experience with other potential customers. I would hate to know that I could've prevented other people from going through this same miserable ordeal as I have.

-The quote above comes from the email I received from Michael McKelvie after I learned that they washed their hands from this whole ordeal.

OK, now I don't understand. We are not "washing our hands" of anything...the fact remains that the charge of $15 did not orginate from us, which is why we've agreed with you that you should dispute the charge with your bank.

He did, at our request. That is how we verified that the charge did not come from us.

See, I did. That's how they were able to surmise that the charge didn't come from them, despite the fact that it says "entertainme.com" on the statement. I have not had a single erroneous charge to my account before or after this transaction. And to top it off, they admit that my CC info is missing in an extremely uncommon manner. Here is an email I received from a CSR after filing my complaint:

"hi Matt.
i have looked up your account, and to be perfectly honestly, i would have NO
idea what that CC charge is for (seeing as how the order you made came to a
total of 80.12$
also, another strange thing is how any order numbers i have under your
account arent even processed orders. they dont have ANY credit card
information on them whatsoever.
so in essence, we dont have any cc information for you at all! this all
seems very strange to me, especially since the amount you say you were
charged doesnt even come close to what your order would have been. the best
thing i would suggest to you would be to phone our toll free# 1.877.906.6843
and ask to speak with ALISON. or email her at [email protected]
she takes care of all account charges etc so she might be able to tell you
more.
im sorry i couldnt have been more help in this matter, but please, by all
means contact us if there is anything more we can sort out for you. thanks
Matt =)
have a good day!

EntertainMe.com"

I keep hearing things about "unprocessed orders" and things that were "pre-auth" (from the chat we had the other day) but "never went through". This leads me to believe that it is THEIR FAULT, not mine.

I will dispute the charges with my bank, and I will also never do business with your company again (and I will recommend that no one else does as well).

Matt925,

Sounds like they are giving you BS. I went to their site once but never ordered from them. Glad I didnt. Did they say if your order is still being processed? he, he... Sounds like they are really screwed up.

To their credit they have contacted me multiple times and I have full faith that they are taking every measure to find out what the problem is and to correct it, and I am also convinced that if there was a mistake on their part, it was an honest one. I will keep everyone that is interested updated on the progress of this transaction.

Matt, please keep us updated as you say you will.

I really don't think, however, that everyone should just jump ship with entertainme. Look at one very important aspect of this ordeal... at least they are trying to help, and they are the only online store I have ever seen consistently monitoring this forum to assist its customers in my near two years on this forum. (I won't count Overstock, since they basically just provided lies.) I understand this is frustrating, and I'm not trying to stand up for entertainme just for the fun of it, but many of us, including myself, have had only positive experiences. There's no reason this discussion should be so lopsided, and I wonder why no one else has mentioned anything about it. I don't think it's good for any of these threads to crucify a business if they're at least trying to do their job. It could be Overstock, and lie about shipping, but it's not. Let's give them a chance to fix this problem. Please.

I notified my bank, and a few days later I received a letter that said they "investigated" the matter and credited my account. And that's that. I still believe it was an error on their part, as my CC info mysteriously vanished from the order and my bank statement said "entertainme.com" but I guess we'll never know. Bad experience, but they were cooperative.
