Preorder sites...
As for DEEP DISCOUNT DVD, I have great a experience
with them thus far. All releases were shipped out in a
timely fashion and at a fair price.
Other sites for preorders that I've had good experiences
with include:
AMAZON.com
CDNOW.com
TWEC.com
800.com
BUY.com
The above sites were equally as reliable as DEEP DISCOUNT.
I hope this helps?

DVDEmpire!
I stick withthem for the best pre-order prices and I usually get my DVD's the Monday before Street Date.
THe only other one I have tried from highdef's list is Amazon.com and have had TERRIBLE luck with them for getting pre-orders. I usually don't get them until a week after they are released. THe same applies to Buy.com.

I have had good experiences when ordering from express.com. 2 times, both early.
I've preordered once from Amazon and it was early. Once before that (not a preorder) they took about a week before they even shipped it. All of the titles said usually ship withing 24 hours.

But their prices and the willingness to price-match other e-tailers make up for it.

Amazon is improving now. This year I have been receiving my pre-orders on the release day or the next day. They ship preorders on Saturday and Sunday instead of Monday now. It also depends where you live and how close you are to their warehouses.
I don't mind waiting a couple of days in exchange for a better customer service, especially if the shipment arrives damaged.

I just pre-ordered American Pie Ultimate Edition from DVDEmpire since I'm going away for the week and won't be able to pick it up. What mail class does everyone use to get it before release date? Also, do they charge your credit card when it ships or when you make the order? Thanks for any and all info.

I have all my orders hipped Priority. I used Media Mail once or twice, but mostly I use the priority service and I almost always get the movies before street date. The answer to your second question is that they charge when the item ships and not when it is ordered. I have about 1500 bucks worth of prebooks from them and I only see what ships get charged.
As for the opening question in this thread, I used Express exclusively for a long time until they up and cancelled my orders, I followed the advice of this forum and tried DVD Empire, and they haven't let me down yet, I really reccomend them!

Charged? When they ship your title.
Hope this helps.
